World Deals/Worldwide Dream

I am currently being bombarded with emails - "Only 3 Days to go until KLM World Deals/AF Worlidwide Dream (delete as applicable). Get ready Mr Nickyboy!!"

I got an email today from KLM Ireland "in accordance with your FB profile preferences" ....the fares don't look anything special....even if I happened to live in Ireland

Wonder what the big deal is to warrant the heavy email promotion? Guess wait til Sep 7 to find out!

Same here, remnant of my old days when living in Ath Cliath. If it's 50% off with triple EQM I might consider it though

I suspect it is an answer to the BA sale ex-UK .. which has drawn a response from AA, Virgin and BMI (which will also start next week)

We will see how competitive the rates are... and if they even earn miles!

Got the same here from KLM for flights ex-Germany. Well, I live in the Netherlands... *shrug*

The prices are not really anything special I fear. NYC ex. DUS for about 450 EUR. I just booked the same through the regular AF site via CDG for 449 EUR ex AMS. Much better itinerary for me as I live in AMS.

So do not hold your breath and wait for any special fares.

I remember KLM having had a decent WorldWideWeek special last year. The trip to STR-AMS-YYZ-AMS-STR was available for about 340 EUR. _THAT_ was a special. What we're seeing today, not so much.

They had this sale in other parts of Europe last month, only economy,
a handful of fairly decent prices but almost no availability.

I also received two emails from KLM and, today, one from AF offering "Dream Fares." However, having read through the message, I have to say that I would rather have something to whet my appetite than something to wet it!

I think the current one is ex-UK, to fight BA sale [also VS and BD].

You can see them if you choose UK as your country on AF / KL sites.

But don't get your hopes up.....

Sep 7 dawned and I logged on, looking forward to the half price, triple miles promotion, only to get some fares that looked little better than normally available

After all the emails warming me up, it was like getting up on Christmas Day and finding no bicycle

Compared the PEK flight price with the one I took last year (same period, EX Dub) and it's EUR 65 dearer, so not much dreaming there I must say.

Looks like AF is getting out of the recession as prices seem to go up again (at least for AF AFAIK)

KLM seeing into the future??

I received similar emails from KLM - Switzerland, UK, Sweden, and Ireland. I lived in the first two, now live in Sweden, but never Ireland - does KLM know something about where I might live in the future???
