Upgrade on delta w flying blue miles
 

Hello everyone :D

I am kinda new to this so once again here's what it could seem like a stupid question.

I have a flight from FCO to LAX ( with one stop in JFK ) on Delta in Y Class.

I just called Flying Blue to check if I could upgrade with miles, and they said I should be able to since it's the highest fare class, but that as of right now Delta doesn't show any availability for upgrades to business class. They also said to check back later because it might still become available.

Is the situation likely to change?
I never tried before so I wouldn't know. My flight is not until Sep 2... I'm also a Sky Team Elite Plus, if that might help...

Check regularly, and much more frequently starting in a couple of weeks. A good way to see if it's available is if cheap award seats become available.

A bit of a hassle but alternatively you could reroute your flight through CDG. There are 3 direct AF flights to LAX per day. they are all code shared on DL.

Upgrades JFK to LAX and SFO
 

DL almost never makes upgrade inventory available on these flights in advance of the day of departure. These are perhaps the best domestic flights DL operates, as they use a 757 equipped with AVOD, and only 16 seats in F, each one a Business Elite recliner.

When you get to JFK, you need to get yourself into a SkyClub ASAP and see if a concierge can get you lined up with an upgrade.

It's a Y class booking, but is it a true Y fare? Is it perhaps a government contract fare, like a YCA or YMZ fare basis?
