I was just concerned that date changes may lead to disappointment.
I think there will be a significant number of FTers on the first commercial (thanks for coming up with that face-saver, orbitmic ^) flight, which is AF6 on 23/NOV (places on the official inaugural flights a few days earlier are going to be auctioned off for charity). Check out this thread for more info, etc.

According to af.de, after JFK, the A380 will next be used on the DXB, JNB and NRT flights. No timeline is given, though.

A380 on Wednesdays
Why is AF not flying the A380 on Wednesdays? I have AF7 JFK-CDG booked on Mar 10, 2010 and it was thought to be the A380, but there is conflicting info on the schedule, web site, and expert flyer.

Probably because of maintenance requirements. But that may be changed by March 2010 as they receive more aircraft (though I don't know their expected delivery schedule).

From what I heard from reliable source, the seats are identical to those on the 777, so nothing special except the excitment of being on the big bird. Sad that AF did not take this opportunity to introduce new products. I will soon use the shower on EK, the new suite,...

I agree it is very sad indeed. As you say, it will just be the excitement of the new bird, the hope that the said seats and screens will actually work on day 1, and marginal improvements such as the mood lighting which I presume they've fitted etc. BTW, I wonder if they have followed the path of other airlines in at least offering toilets with windows in J and P?

Well, given it's just one flight and that I haven't had the oportunity to fly the 388 I'd take the whale over the triple seven any time, even if they put fancy new seats, and PTVs twice as big as regulars with three times the legroom on the 777. So I don't care about seats as long as they have some kind of seats
The same ofcourse will be true of the seven-late-seven if and when they finally get it in the air.
