Some of these items were discussed here.
The new changes to the piece concept for transatlantic flights are not an improvement, but they are in line with the policies of US carriers, who initiated the move.

KLM Increases Baggage Allowance
Well, that depends on your perspective. Europeans traveling to the US may beg to differ.
"KLM Ghana has changed its baggage policy from a weight of 23 kilos to two pieces of 23 kilos with effect from today.
In the business class, passengers would be allowed two pieces of 32 kilos each.
According to a press release from KLM office in Accra, the new weight concept already applies to operations in the United States and Canada.
With the change, the KLM recognises the need for customers to transport more baggage to and from destinations in Europe and the Middle and Far East, as well as to the United States and Canada.
The hand baggage allowance, however, remains the same and must not be more than 10 kilos for economy class passengers and an additional garment bag not more than eight kilos for business class passengers.
The new policy is valid for all tickets issued in Accra."
