It's 2005 and AF still can't do electronic tickets in Europe?

At least not for CDG-NAP. Why? It's an AF flight on AF metal between two EU Shengen countries. So I have to pay €20 to pick up the ticket at the airport?

They only charge you a 'paper ticket fee' in case you can choose for an e-ticket. If e-tickets are not available for your itinerary, they will not charge you this 'paper ticket fee' (so AF-KL claims).

Problem seems to be that AF uses some handling agent in NAP. This particular market is not e-ticket eligible.

This is not the paper ticket fee. It is the PTA fee for a pre-paid ticket for pickup at the airport.

On airfrance.fr:

It says that paper tickets are issued only if e-tickets are not possible, and sent via snailmail at no cost.

It is not just AF. Other European airlines (including BA and LH) have that problem too. Some secondary stations staffed by handling agents are not able to handle e-tickets. BA, for instance, has that problem at Bastia, Catania, Cagliari, Luxembourg, etc...

I'm leaving too soon and there is no time for snailmail.
