Advice: F award LAX-JNB: Should I do one leg in C?
I have an F award (using DL miles) for AF F travel. Current routing is:
LAX-CDG-JNB JNB-CDG (overnight because no onward F to the US that day) CDG-ATL-BUR All flights in F. Now, I saw today that I can fly nonstop on the return CDG-LAX in C. It would not require an overnight. So here are my questions: 1) On this final leg of such a long journey, will the difference between C and F be more appearant or less? 2) Will I be better off overnighting in CDG to break the trip up, or is it better to just get home? 3) How is the C product on the older version 777? |
I cannot answer the airline related questions . just make a general comment.
LAX-CDG-JNB. What is your connection like?? When I did ORD-LHR-CPT I had a 14 hour layover in LHR (morning arrival and evening departure). THAT was ruff. Coming home, it is like 12-14 hours up then layover then how many home... I did CPT-LHR-ORD all in one group (14+2+9?) and was totally WIPED out! It is a horribly long combination of flights. Even in First! Just because of the lengths, I would consider the overnight! |
On the outbound, I have a five hour CDG connection.
On the return, it's either an overnight or a four hour connection. Here's an addendum to the quesion: If I do take the C seat, though I am ticketed in F, will I have higher consideration at the gate when it comes to upgrading into F? |
One more question on this
I can also break up the trip in BOS and visit family for the evening. I would then fly:
JNB-CDG (AF F) connect CDG-BOS (AF C) overnight BOS-LAX (via MEM or IAH on NW or CO) I take it the CDG-BOS leg is with the new biz concept (or whatever the lingo is). I would imagine that after all my flying, I really won't care about yet another pair of PJ's and amenity kit. In fact, I welcome the chance to try the new C. But I want to ensure that the 343 does have the new C. |
