Hi Michael,

It may be possible. There is a bus from 2E to 2F international, so there may/must be a return bus.

(Unfortunately, because the GVA flight is considered a domestic French flight, I've never had the possibility to remain airside.)

Cheers,

Changing planes at CDG airport

Hello

This is my first non point-to-point flight and because of that i am a little bit nervous about changing planes at cdg. (well...it is a huge airport)

I have a flight on 1.oct.2007 from LJU, AF 3101 (REGIONAL) arriving to cdg at 12:10
and connection flight to BIQ AF 7638 at 13:20 (12:50 check-in time limit).

Will i have enough time to get from 2B to 2F on foot?
What could i do if my first flight has a delay?
I was told at AF office, i dont have to reclaim baggage at cdg, since it is checked to the last destination.
I will probably have to get new boarding pass, where shoud i look for it, at 2B terminal or at 2F?

Thank you for info
Maja

Given the schedule of AF flights from LJU and to BIQ, this is indeed one of the few possible options.

It is a rather short connection:
1. you will probably have a remote stand, as you are flying a regional aircraft (not the carrier, just the aircraft type); so you need to factor in an additional 15mn to reach 2B from your parking stand
2. clearing immigration in 2B can take some time as there are few immigration lines open simultaneously; if it looks as the line you are waiting may take too much time, you can try going to the opposite end of 2B where there are additional immigration lanes, which may be less crowded
3. walking from 2B once you have cleared immigration requires 5mn to 2D, 5mn to the TGV railway station and then 5mn to 2F1, the Schengen pier in 2F
4. clearing security in 2F1 at that time of the day should be OK; there are fast track lanes for elite/premium passengers or for passengers on flights nearing their closing time
5. after security, you need 5-7mn to any gate

What could i do if my first flight has a delay?
You might have a fast transfer from one flight to the other, but this is unlikely, as you are flying to a short-haul destination, not a long-haul one, and there is a later flight. If your flights are on the same ticket, go to an AF transfer desk (airside in 2B, or landside in 2F, at the center of the terminal) and you will be rebooked on the later flight.

True.

I believe you should get your boarding passes for the two flights in LJU. Otherwise, go to the above mentioned transfer desks.

Enjoy your flights and BIQ

So i will most probably miss connection flight.
If I do.
Does this mean that my baggage will go on with first or with second flight (at 21:10?
The problem is because Biarritz is not my final destination. I am traveling to Spain and i would really like to avoid any problems with baggage.
I will call AF office today how much would penalty cost if i change the reservation to earlier flight. but she said i will have plenty of time

JOUY31 is without question one of the most helpful and knowledgable people posting on FlyerTalk, if not on the entire world wide web.

don't want to open a new thread on this one...

short question for people having recently flown through CDG: what's currently the best way for getting from S3 to Terminal 2D? Should I take the people mover to 2E and walk over to 2D or rather the bus to 2F and then walk to 2D?

Cheers,

Your baggage will not be on the first flight if you miss it. If it is already loaded, AF staff will need to unload it.

Let me try this :

On my last trip I arrived in 2A (yuck). We decided to take the bus to get to 2E (S3). We arrived at S3 within 5 minutes. Security check-point in S3.

I had never really used the bus before (thinking it took so much longer) so I found it to be quite convenient.

Again, this is my own experience and I was transferring from 2A -> 2E/S3.

airchristophe, thanks for your reply. Alas, unless things have changed very recently, there is no airside bus from 2E/S3 to 2D - are you talking about the landside bus?

Nope, we used the airside bus ... there must be one from 2E/S3 to the other terminals if I got to 2E/S3 from 2A ... at the drop off point there are two different entries, one for the gates at 2E itself and the other for the gates at S3.

My trip was the 1st week of September.

Mind you, S3 is really just an operational name ... the whole terminal is "commercialised" as 2E.

Hi all,

I don't believe that there is an airside bus to 2D (nor to 2F1) due to the fact that it is a Schengen terminal. You need to enter France/Schengen before using that terminal.

For 2F1, you can use the bus to 2F2 and pass immigration there, but that does not work for 2D.

Cheers,

A quick question; after trolling through this entire thread I am now comfortable about transit from 2F to 2E on my flight EDI-CDG-SIN. I just wondered if anyone knows which gates the SIN flights (AF256) usually go out of? I'll be going through CDG on December 10th, a Saturday evening, at about 21.00

thanks

Most probably S3. The other two 2E boarding areas are used at peak time, which currently is until about 5PM. This should not be impacted by the opening of the gates located on the West side of S3, scheduled for October and December, which should be for medium-haul flights or a combination of medium-haul and long-haul flights.
