BA has announced a new fuel surcharge :

+ GBP 10 for "short" long-haul flights
+ GBP 15 for other long-haul flights
+ GBP 2 for short-haul and medium-haul flights

.... not really unexpected

Air France increases fuel surcharge
Thursday 10 January 2008

Due to the high level of fuel prices, Air France is increasing its fuel surcharge by 1 euro per segment on domestic flights, by 2 euros per segment on medium-haul flights and by 8 euros per segment on long-haul flights.

This increase, valid on tickets for trips from France issued as from 11th January 2008, will be withdrawn as soon as the price of the barrel is stabilized over time below 90 US dollars.

UA has raised its domestic fuel surcharge to USD 25 per segment.

Asian LCCs, such as Jetstar and Air Asia are also raising their fuel surcharges.

And SU is now EUR23 (short- and medium haul) / EUR35-40 (domestic long-haul) / EUR45 (int'l long-haul). There are some exceptions, though - buy your tickets in HKG, ICN or TYO for lower surcharges.

- The surcharge for longhaul flights shorter than nine hours increases by GBP 5 per flight from GBP 48 to GBP 53.
- The surcharge for longhaul flights above nine hours increases by GBP 6 from GBP 58 to GBP 64 per flight.
- No change to the shorthaul fuel surcharge, which remains at GBP 10 per flight.

According to Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, Air France "may have to raise its fuel surcharge soon again." (Les Echos)

AF raises its fuel surcharge, effective April 22nd

- EUR 2 per segment on short-haul flights
- EUR 4 per segment on medium-haul flights
- EUR 10 per segment on long-haul flights

Interesting new wording about the threshold, no mention of 30 days any more
- threshold for withdrawing 1/2 of the surcharge is the price per barrel "remain(ing) steady below USD 100"
- threshold for withdrawing the second half of the surcharge is the price per barrel "remain(ing) steady below USD 95".

Total fuel surcharge :
AF : EUR 14 (short-haul), EUR 20 (medium-haul), EUR 83 (long-haul)
