Angry SOS arnaque - Beware: Day-light robbery!

Forget about the status, the mileage you earn, and the salon!

Just tried to claim an award ticket through the new FB system - it's impossible AT ALL to claim ANY long-haul ticket, at least at the "normal tariff" (i.e. not the "open mile" option)

Thought that it might be just the load factor that's particularly high this summer, but no, the ticket price in the open market (say, sncf-voyages.com) remains at a reasonable level.

What's more, I tried to claim a ticket to HKG in end september and end october just as a test and, surprise, impossible AT ALL to claim the ticket at the normal tariff.

If the AF folks have decided to reduce my net personal wealth with them by 50%, at least they could have done it more subtly by progressively tightening up the yield management (i.e. not releasing award ticket at, say 60% load factor, then progressively reducing it to 55 and then 50). But, no, I don't think they even feel ashamed to take money away from me.

If that's what they think is the way they should treat their "best" customers (those with a colossal mileage balance with them), guess I'll just select SYSTEMATATICALLY other airlines just as a retaliation. Sorry AF, you just lost a platinum card customer who almost invariably paid full-fare long-haul tickets.

I have found a R/T CDG-HKG (19 Sep. / 26 Sep.) in l'Espace Affaires at 120,000 miles (mini miles). No availability in eco and Premičre, unfortunately.

A good deal since you will have plenty of time to enjoy the service on this 12-hour flight. Besides, HKG is usually rather expensive on AF l'Espace Affaires.

So it seems there are seats. Not many, I admit. Why don't you call them to get more accurate information about their mini miles seats release policy?

There is a thread over at the KL forum in which some people seem to be saying that the only KL award availability they are finding is on AF through CDG:

So if you are Elite (booking in W for Eco awards) you can have Business awards for all but two flights during this period, and Eco awards on all flights.

I guess it may be a problem with the FB system, did you try to call them directly ?

So ????

I am surprised to have no reaction from the original poster to my data.

Do we have to assume that, in that case also, the bad press AF often receive in this board is based on something else than pure facts ?

Indeed ...

I just plugged in TGV' s dates from above, with a return from HKG at the end of October (+30 days from CDG departure date) - awards in F, J and Y are pretty wide open ...
