Economy AF/HOP component on a Delta One (MUA) itinerary
I booked an FRA-CDG-SEA itinerary with delta in Premium Select (A fare). It includes an FRA-CDG code share with AF which is shown as being operated by HOP! (DL 8691 / AF 1691). That leg shows as economy (A). I applied a mileage upgrade award (MUA) with Delta to upgrade to Delta One. The upgrade was successfully applied to the TATL leg, but the flight to CDG still shows as Economy (A).
Questions:
- Is it expected that the first leg still shows as economy? The delta rep said they couldn't push the upgrade through on that leg because it was operated by HOP!.
- I am unable to select seats for the first leg through either Delta or Air France. Is that expected?
- What will the check in and security experience be at FRA? I assume I check in with Air France? Can I use the business class or sky priority desks? And can I use premium security? I'm a delta platinum medallion member, if that matters.
- Will I have lounge access at FRA?

Hop ! is simply the regional subsidary of AF, just like KLM Cityhopper. You check in at the AF/KLM desk in T2. There is an AF/KLM lounge at FRA but it is mdiocre, so don't spend too much time there. You will then take a bus to the plane, so no "real" Skypriority for boarding. I would arrive minimum 90min before departure because the contractor that handles the operations is terrible and there are only 2 desks for Skypriority check-in. Plus, security is a slow at FRA. Yes, there is a FastTrack security queue, but it merely rejoins the normal queue at a further up point. In general; FRA is a shoddy airport no matter who you fly.
Hop ! operates exclusively E170 and E190 jets, and the seating between J and Y is exactly the same (2x2), with a variable curtain between the cabines. There is no Premium Economy. J service includes a cold "meal" snack. It's really a short flight though, 55mn on a good day without ATC delays. You will arrive at 2G in CDG, which is a satellite terminal and thus, have to take the navette to 2F to be able to go to 2E for your Seattle flight. I hope you have at least 75mn for this correspondance.
You should be able to select seats, but will need the AF PNR to be able to log onto the AF website to select seats.

So if I understand correctly, the ground experience at FRA will simply be based on my Skyteam Elite Plus / Delta Platinum Medallion status, not the Delta One flight?
I have 2h for the transfer, I'm thinking that should be plenty?

Yes, your status is what will give you the SP experience at FRA. Honestly, keep your expectations low. Sometimes the normal queue moves faster than the SP check in queue, and the contracted agents (Wisag) just don't care. I'm happy if they even load my checked bags onto the plane, which sometimes they fail to do even with plenty of time.
2h of correspondance at CDG is enough to even visit the lounge.
