Ski boot bag as carry-on

Hello, any experiences with concrete ski bags that work well as a carry-on? Me and my wife are traveling in J SFO-CDG-PRG and would prefer to carry our custom fit ski boots but it’s the first time for us to fly with ski equipment. How closely are they enforcing the size of ski boot bag as a carry on?

I believe given how obviously large ski boot bags are, you might be refused to carry them on. After all, it's not a couple centermčtres variance like in the case of various standard "cabine" roller bags, rather something that's notably too large in size.

But ski + ski boot bags count as "one"' sporting good, so it's not like you'd have to count/pay for ski + boot bag separately.

We used to travel CDG-GVA often with skis. WE checked a ski pair as sport equipment and carried one boot bag as cabin equipment (stuffed with socks. It is not that big.If you carry on, you do not need a big bag. If you add a cask, that might take you over the size limit, never tries.

Depending on your allowance, we also used a double bag for skis and checked the ski boots.

On a LCY-GVA flight a few years ago, a fellow pax came up with a very clever solution: he wore his ski boots when boarding and had sneakers in his coat pockets which he changed into once on board .

I am assuming you are travelling next year or you are in the Bernard Morin situation "Je skie au mois de juillet" :-D
French movies jokes apart, Business class allows 2 carry-ons + 1 had accessory, so you will be fine as long as the ski bag fits in the carry-on allowance.
Bear in mind that standards for carry-ons in Europe are way lower than in the US, and you might be asked to gate check your bag if it deliberately gets over the allowance in terms of size, even if you are in Business class.

I see. So we do have ski boot bags that are just above the dimensions for carry-on (wider than 9.9 inch) ~ 11-12 inches. Pretty sure for a regular carry on nobody would care but what I'm not sure is whether it's something that the airport staff would deliberately focus on.
