No wine on AF shorthaul < 60 min?

Flew today GVA-PAR and they said they had no wine. 'It's a short flight you know'. Beer, soft drinks and coffee available. Same experience a few weeks ago on a flight of similar duration. Never had this with KLM on similar flights. Is KL short haul Y catering becoming better as of AF?

Definitely not normal as GVA is considered international for AF.

I would challenge that. You get international XP and a full meal in J.

Well, a regular euro J meal. Compared to the biscuits you get on domestic.

Yes, it is an international flight despite in GVA moving to a French sector first. It gave me 5 XP. But the same wine issue happened as well on AMS-CDG with AF, which obviously is international. I just wonder if others have the same experience that AF is so-so with catering stock on 50 min flights. I happened both on inbounds to Paris, so maybe they had used the few wines they had on the outbound.

I can confirm there was red wine on yesterday's CDG LYS, as my seatmate had it.

So there is wine on a 45 minute, domestic route.
I see no reason why the GVA route would not have it, unless you were going to ORY?
I've heard a few weeks ago that the beverage list had been neutered for short hauls to ORY. They mentioned J not having champagne anymore, and it could trickle down to Y not having wine.

Was CDG. Maybe they just ran out of it on the outbound leg.

Not getting Champagne on a NCE-CDG (which should be roughly the same distance) would be a disaster for me

Ive flown DUS-CDG many times since the pandemic, and they never seem to cater wine in Y. When asking for wine, they suggest beer.

Before Covid, wine was always available on that sector.

Intresting that you mention GVA-CDG as I was told a while ago that they did not have champagne onboard, for a very early morning flight, as it's "too early" for champagne

However I had no issues going through more than half a bottle of Jaquart from MAN at 5.55 the other day

Could it be that we have a nest of calvinists working against us

This may also be depending on the outbound flight from CDG the night before. I can imagine that they cater champagne for the outbound but not inbound in the early morning. However if champagne was left unopened from the night before they may be able to serve that early morning?

Exactly my experience on AMS-CDG and GVA-CDG hence, including suggesting the beer as alternative. That is why I suspected it is yet another 'enhancement' of their Y product on short international flights.

There is indeed a French sector at GVA, but t's not a domestic flight for AF. It belongs to the medium-haul/Europe sector. The service and FB rules are those of European flights, not domestic.
