The change of operating carrier is probably a "get out of jail free" situation; likely permitting fee-free refund.

Had a similar situation: Informed that my S23 flight from PMO - CDG will be operated by amelia. Economy only. Given 3 options: cancel, being reimbursed for the downgrade after flying or contact them via telephone for a reschedule. Now rebooked on ITA via Rome (first leg economy superior / middle seat free).

Tickets on AF still bookable in business on AF and KL websites.

I'm looking to book a flight CDG-CMN and I'm also seeing Amelia on that route (AF1896, the first flight of the day, seems to be operated by Amelia 319 daily at least for the last week of April).

Did anyone see any kind of communication from AF regarding Amelia ops being extended to other parts of the network?

Otherwise, it looks like some of the flights CDG-TUN are still operated on AF-metal, according to EF. But it is mostly the A319 by 8R (Amelia), with on board 1 class, 144 seats, 24 rows of 6 seats across. I am sure that you will have some of the perks of booked business class, like lounge and luggage, but on board i doubt that there is different catering and, as you mentioned yourself, no empty middle seat. You have not many alternatives. But one of them is TunisAir: they often use a widebody from ORY to TUN on TU719 at 12:40
I am flying Economy and on these flights to Tunis on Amelia, I am able to select 1B in the seat selection map. Are we sure Business is available on these flights?!

They indeed stopped selling business class on our flights this week, and yesterday our booking on the Air France website was changed to economy (until yesterday it showed business class), eliminating lounge access, luggage allowance, etc.

So I decided to take them up on their offer to cancel the flights, get a complete refund and rebooked on ITA in business class.

still curious to what will be offered on Amelia though

So I was on the CDG-TUN this morning and it was operated by Amelia:
  • Gate was K23 so that meant bussing to aircraft which was parked in from T2B. First time using a bus with Air France which meant priority boarding boarding was useless. And Boarding started much earlier than expected. When I reached the gate from the lounge, the first bus had just departed. A bit of a stressful moment not knowing whether they would confiscate my hand luggage or not as the flight was full.
  • Boarded the plane after waiting almost 15 minutes waiting for other aircraft to push back and leave.
  • Plane looked a bit tired inside. Leather seats without headrests. Not nice if you want to catch up on some sleep. The seat backs were also not very clean and some of them couldn't be locked in an upright position.
  • No Business Class confirmed.
  • Service in Economy is the usual AF service: Sandwich, biscuit and drinks.
  • Cabin Crew were nice and excited to be operating an AF flight it seems. They were only 3 for this flight.

I was on TUN-CDG recently, operated by Amelia. I had booked a business class flight with miles, and had later received the "you've been downgraded to economy" email. Overall the experience was totally fine and roughly comparable to an AF-operated flight apart from the catering.
  • There is priority check-in and boarding at TUN. The priority boarding was enforced well, with several passengers told to join the other queue. My boarding pass said Y on it, but I have platinum status; I'm not sure what might have happened if I had no status.
  • The first four rows of the aircraft all had the middle seat kept free. There were those plastic dividers between rows 4 and 5 together with a curtain, but the curtain remained open throughout the flight.
  • Sandwich, biscuit and drinks (wine, beer, juices, waters, cokes etc).
  • Seat pitch was noticeably less than AF, and it would have felt cramped without the middle seat free.
  • Cabin crew were nice.
  • Parked at a remote stand at CDG and bused to the terminal.
The lounge at TUN has some new chairs but it's still bad. I ended up sitting outside to get some peace & quiet and a working wi-fi signal, neither of which were available in the lounge.

it would appear that Transavia is the superior choice where available. Collect the XP.

I don't think anyone has indicated that these don't earn XP.

Right, those flights do earn XP & Miles as if they were full AF flights, so no worries there

My point was that you earn the XP as well when flying Transavia (not all fares though).
