The message seems to be legally mandatory but it doesn’t mean your flights are affected.

is it your case? If not you didn’t need to change your booking

I changed because I didn't want to sit in AMS lounge for 11 hours, not because I like to follow orders..

oh, so i understand now, the situation gave you the opportunity to catch an earlier flight for free / no extra charge?

sorry for asking, it's just that i thought that it would be possible to change flights only if yours is cancelled

No problem, maybe I was a little unclear in my original post We are flying BGO - AMS - CDG (overnight stop) - TUN.
I managed to change the first leg BGO - AMS to a later one free of charge (the original flight was departing at 06 am and then we would have to wait over 11 hours in AMS).
There were no cancellations or schedule changes, but my point was that it helped to call the PSL and let them fix everything instead of trying to fix it yourself on the website. It looks like the agents have a bigger selection of flights when it comes to rebooking.

The weird thing is that if they offer you to change without change fee you can still end up with paying for fare differences, which close to the date of flying are obviously major. Apparently if you call the PSL you get in touch with agents who have more freedom to manouvre...nice to see this outcome.

Heads up: looks like the 17th is going to be a mess. Was connecting through CDG (routing ATL-CDG-VCE; ATL-CDG on DL is fine) - AF cancelled the 09h40 flight and rebooked me a day earlier, i.e. when I'll be in the air from the states. Looks like all other flights on the 17th are also zeroed out, incl. legs via AMS. DL is currently working the mess that AF created, so we shall see... in the last year, this has happened to me 5 of 8 times connecting through CDG...

There's a strike by security personnel at DUS, so all DUS flights from both CDG and AMS are canceled on 17 March. (PSL said it will be the same on 18th March, even though AF flight status still shows them as running.) I imagine the FRA, the closest alternative that I just got rebooked on, will fill up quickly...
For once the strike isn't in France!

Germany has had its fair share of strikes and will continue to do so. Not too long ago both MUC and FRA were completely shut down, and there are still days where BER, Hambourg, DUS, Hanovre are shut down as well. It's just a game of russian roulette thesedays in Europe and will continue to be so as inflation runs rampant and wages don't increase.

It's just France often gets the headlines because the strikes are often nationwide across multiple sectors, whereas in Germany it's by sector (for example public transits in a few cities, the Poste, doctors, etc...)

My BOD-AMS flight operated normally, like any flight from BOD on 15 March afai could see. Some 20 min delay due to a build up of delay on previous flights of the aircraft, nothing special. Seems we can trust the expectations given on the AF website about what is cancelled and not. Flight was half empty though (I guess since many rebooked travel which could be done for free, to avoid a strike day).

Uf! I am flying out on 18th from DUS (via CDG). If i ask to be rebooked to fly direct from AMS, will I get original XP/mileage credit?

Yes you should if it is an involuntary re-routing due to strikes and the like.

The administration just rammed the pension reform bill through the gouvernment using article 49.3, essentially enacting the bill w/o further debate or vote.

Things are going to get ugly. Expect further industrial action.

Yeah I'm getting nervous. Flying SFO-CDG-FCO on Sunday (with wife and daughter). My parents on the same routing the next day. At least for now there is no chance of a preemptive rebooking on KLM or DL/ITA, correct?

Any recommendations on best social media or other news source to be alerted if/when the strike is planned? AF Twitter rarely seems to have these updates.

Things are heating up in France today, especially since the government has announced they will pass their reform by force. Next day of action was announced: Next Thursday March 23.
