NEV4 routes on AF B777-300 in 2023

Hello,

I've had some troubles finding the current routings on which AF uses the old dreaded NEV4 Business configuration in 2023.
As the COI Market did get this product a few years ago it now has the updated COI business.

I am especially interested to find out my chances of sitting in the old NEV4 when flying to SIN on AF with the evening flight in March. I've read in another thread that some SIN fights changed to the old NEV4 with the 2-3-2 config. not fully flat.....urgh....

Can anyone help?

I would appreciate that!
Thanks in advance!

The situation will improve quickly as more planes are being retrofitted. As of today, you have NEV4 consistently on BKK, ICN (+ continuation PEK/PVG), MRU, BOM, SGN, HKG, JIB
Occasionally : TNR, BKO/CKY, RUN (from CDG), TLV. GIG see a mix of NEV4 and new J (with door), although the majority of flights seem to be with retrofitted planes.
Very occasionally : DXB, SIN. Those are quite rare but it does happen.

Thank you very much for that detailed answer.
I checked the routes you gave me and they not always get the 2-3-2.
Is this because there are not many NEV4 B773 left in the fleet?

Can I generally be sure if flying the evening flight to SIN with La Premiere it will probably not have a last minute equipment change ?
They would rather change the twice weekly morning flight to the old config?
Or is AF famous for last minute equipment swaps eliminating P?

I know this is a 1st world problem, but you do want to know what you get and the difference is extreme, and this is a special occasion. The alternatives are just so much more expensive, which got me thinking there must be something wrong LOL

It is unlikely AF 256/257 will be swapped with a NEV4 equipped frame because of the presence of P. Of course last minute changes can happen but these will be extremely rare. AF 254/255 might be changed, and in fact it has a few times according to this forum.

If Ive been following correctly out of the 12 NEV4 777-300ER, only 7 are left in the old config as 2 are currently in the works and 3 are flying in the new FFF aka the new business class seat with doors config. In that context your chances of getting a non retrofitted 777 are quite low, especially as a replacement.

I had a late NEV4 switcheroo out of GRU in early December. J was full, but a very light load in the back, so Y pax got the lie-flats for a change.

You are correct. For instance BKK sees once or twice a week a B772 (=BEST) instead of the NEV4 B77W but I kept BKK in the "consistently served with NEV4" list as the B772 is really an exception. And yes, there are not that many B77W left with NEV4 so the risk is decreasing each time an additional plane is retrofitted.

The zero risk never exists but it is extremely unlikely that this flight will be downgraded to NEV4 plane.

certainly not famous for this, although it may exceptionally happen if the circumstances impose it.

AF used to stick the NEV 77W to specific routes.
Looking at Aisa, it seems that it is now rotating those NEV to several Asian destinations without specific patterns/days.
For example HKG schedule was updated in the past few days to get a mix of 772 and NEV 77W. Same for ICN or BKK. Russian roulette now.

Have been looking at BKK/CDG in October & November. It consistently shows a 787-9.

Am both tempted by the idea of trying the 787-9 and worried that I would end up in a NEV4 seat...

The plan is to have all 12 retrofitted by Autumn. Even if they arent done, the 1-2 left will be in retrofit so effectively NEV4 will be faded out.

If youre REALLY unlucky, only one or two will be left flying meaning theyd be the only planes in the whole fleet with NEV4. Youd have to be very unlucky to have them on your route and on the day you fly.

In oct/nov 2023, the retrofit should be completed. Eventually one left. So even if they change the B787, the chances to be in NEV4 are very slim.

Dear community.

My flight from CDG to RIO GIG of the 15th of March has just been changed from the newest cabin of 777 (with door) to the oldest NEV4 :-(((
I have booked that business ticket to experiment this new cabin and will never have selected business for NEV4.
It has been done without formal notice, I discovered it on the Air France app by myself. I am upset and disapointed by Air France client service.

Do you have had this experience in the past and some commercial compensation or opportunity to select back another class?

I totally understand your frustration. You can't expect any compensation. The best you can expect is asking to move your dates to have the new seat, knowing that another change can occur. Please report here.
