AF Hand luggage allowance

Hello. Does AF allow two economy pax to combine the hand luggage allowance to a single piece?
We are flying IAH-CDG-IST on award tickets and want to hand carry a single piece weighing some 25kgs.
Are hand luggage weights closely monitored at check-in and connecting stations?

Thanks in advance.

check your award ticket. I believe you can each check in a 23k bag as you travel on an award ticket

Yes. Correct about checked luggage weight limitations. My question was about hand luggage (non checked) weight limitations.

Thank you for your contribution.

As far as I know, the system will require the check-in agent to charge $ when the luggage weighs over 23 kg or 50 lbs. Their scale is usually a little bit lower but I don't think that can make up for 2 kg extra. So they won't be able to combine two pcs into one.

If you're filling your correctly sized hand luggage bag with lead, then as long as you can carry it without showing discomfort then it's unlikely (well probably 0 chance) that it will be checked for weight. I assume you're not simply transporting lead, so in that case to pack 23 kg in a hand-size luggage seems unlikely and if your luggage is obviously oversized then expect problems.

It seems you're likely going to struggle with the dimensions of the hand luggage rather than the weight which i've never seen checked.

As for combining size and weight for 2 hand luggage as 1, then that's only a question AF can answer, I don't expect anyone has tried that before.

Let me tell you something ....
1 day at check in ... The af agent didn't want to let me board because my hand luggage was 13 kilos.... instead of 12

Her answer was i don't know what you are going to do....
Which was crazy since my check in luggage was 17 kilos....

Thank you kindly for your feedback. The dimensions of the hand luggage fit regulations (20inch) it is the weight I am concerned with. It is a spinner designed for overhead bins. I can easily roll this bag and hoping to be able to avoid weigh-in. In the end, if agent gives us a problem , we will just reconfigure hand luggage at the counter. Thanks again for all responses.
