AF268/Overnight CDG layover questions

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I wasn't able to find definitive answers on this and hoping someone here knows.

1) Flying AF268 MLE-CDG and it says that there is a stop at CMB on the way, would this be a full layover where we depart the plane, or would we stay seated on the plane during the stop?
2) There will be an overnight layover in CDG before continuing on to FRA and then DTW... would AF keep my checked luggage during the overnight layover, or will we need to retrieve it since we will have to go through immigration coming from a non-Schengen country?

Thanks in advance!

I've done this flight. You stay on at CMB.

I did not check baggage but my friend who I was traveling with did, and we had to collect her bags at the baggage carousel upon arrival at CDG even though we had a connecting flight to SFO in the morning on the same ticket.

You should be able to do overnight connection with a bag, maybe at the departure airport the agent wasn't able to tag it properly?

It's possible my friend requested they short-check so she could get stuff from the bag. She cannot recall though, she is not a frequent traveler so if she did it it's probably because I instructed her what to tell them at the time.

I think that AF268 only resumes in November.
If on a single ticket MLE-FRA, AF should keep your bags overnight, unless your request a short check.

And airlines in Europe are very reluctant to short check-in, to avoid segment dropping.
But if connection in CDG is > 24h, they only check in to CDG
