Ban of short domestic flights in France

Which routes could this apply to?

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-c...-idUSKBN2BY0AO

PARIS (Reuters) - French lawmakers voted late on Saturday to abolish domestic flights on routes than can be covered by train in under
two-and-a-half hours, as the government seeks to lower carbon emissions even as the air travel industry reels from the global pandemic.

It is all flights for which you travel by train in less than 2,5h except if the flight is a feeder for long-haul (to/from CDG)

Basically, it is all flights from ORY to NTE/BOD/LRT/LYS

As of now? None as they have already been cancelled anyway, as discussed in some threads, such as this one .
But I guess putting it in legislation makes it a little more definitive.

The proposed law would apply not only to Air France but to Ryanair and every other airline that operates in France, .

If there is a more suitable forum than this so fine move the thread, but Air France bailout is a differenct matter.

My question was, which routes are concerned, according to this document from last year, it is only:

Paris Orly to Bordeaux
Paris Orly to Lyon
Paris Orly to Nantes
Paris Orly to Rennes
Lyon to Marseille

Doesn't say if "transfers to a hub" is only for those who have a connecting ticket
or if point-to-point passengers to CDG will be allowed.?

So in practice it doesn't mean much and sounds like it's mostly about sending out a message.

"We need to send a clear message that pollution will not be tolerated."

In the current version, no, a connecting long-haul will not be needed to board the remaining domestic flights.
But fear not: it's been spotted as a "loophole" and voices are already asking for stricter rules about this.

It’s even worse: the latest group to ask for these tighter measures (along with a ban extended to 4-hour-train-trips) was « UFC Que Choisir ».

You know it’s bad when a consumer-support group speaks out to ask public authorities for FEWER options for consumers... It’s a race to the bottom where everyone tries to be the one publicly shaming air transport the most.
Solevita and Carel1 like this.
