Third SFO flight from 4th May: AF 86/87

I was quite surprised to see that AF will serve SFO with a third flight from 4th May, a thrice-weekly service which then becomes daily from mid-June.
I think they are the only European airline which will have 3 flights to SFO? BA, VS, KL, LH all have 2 flights, the others like LX, IB, TP, SK, TK, etc. have not more than just one daily.
Didn't realize that SFO is such a strong market for AF.
Curious thing I noticed: AF 86/87 is served by the 77W on the days that I checked, and with BEST config, but they are not selling La Première on these flights? I checked the seat map for Business for those flights, they start with row 3 and checking Expert Flyer they are showing a seat map for F (1 row 4 seats), so this leads me to believe that its a 4 class 77W? but why close off F for sale?
on a side note, while I avoided the A380 at SFO, still sad that they won't be flying anymore and that the first A380 was returned to its lessor this week...sniff.

No more A380 at SFO? Too bad, was fun to see it fly around my town. Won't miss it for sure.

I am not surprised at all. SFO is a huge market. Glad to get more flights! When does the new flight depart?

And consistent with the first A380 to be withdrawn from the fleet the past week.

Very strange indeed to see all the new extra 77W flights equipped with P seats but with no sale of these seats. Just J, W, Y...

According to the link to the Masterthread of new routes from Goldorak, AF does this in case they need to change equip to a 3-class config. Guess they are not 100% sure yet, and want the flexibility....at the expense of some hefty revenue. But I guess very small volume and F advance bookings start to pick up in the 3 month window before the flight?

One can always dream of the A359 serving the late night SFO flight...!

That'd be grand. The 3:15 AF flight is the best. I hate early departures going East, you just end up with horrible jet lag and a full day in Europe to trudge through.

Love the AF 87 flight leaving SFO at 23:00. Reminds me (and now I'm really dating myself!) of the old UTA SFO-CDG DC-10 service that left SFO very late in the evening.

Left, you mean? There hasn't been a late night flight out of SFO on AF KL for a while

How about a PPT-SFO-CDG and CDG-PPT-SFO flight? Would make sense!

I love the 23:00 flights and the later returning flights from CDG to avoid getting up early leaving CDG and on the outbound arriving CDG just in time to check into your hotel. I did a SFO-BCN flight one way for a Med/Trans Atlantic Cruise and slept very well on the flight and stayed up until 11:00 PM and had 0 Jetlag.

The only flight SFO has ever had was AF 83/84 on the 747 leaving SFO at 6:30 PM back in the 90s and you arrived CDG around Noon. On the return you would arrive SFO around 3:00 PM. I took this flight in 1998.

Glad I got to experience the AF380 2 years ago as well as on BA and Lufthansa.
