NOTE ON GETTING OLCI OFFER ON OAL ORIGINATING:
If the AF LP flight segment is down line from your originating segment operated by another airline which forces you to use the OAL’s checkin system, you can manually use the AF website to check-in for the downline AF flight and still get the offer. For example, GRU-MEX-CDG sold as AM14 / AM 6103 (operated as AF179), you can checkin via AM as usual. Before or after, go to the AF website for the currency you want to pay for the upgrade in. Check-in using just your PNR / Lastname and the AF flight number you want to check-in for. It will allow a mid-trip check-in and will offer the LP upgrade if eligible.

Enjoy!! 1700 isn't bad at all, I manage to get that same price every now and then but on the flight to JFK, which is quite a bit shorter than HND. 8 hours is a long time to spend in the lounge but that should be a great time and an amazing flight!

Another data point regarding this "your ticket is business class but your seat is in LP" issue.
I did a paid LP upgrade and while LP customers get a free WiFi pass, you have to enter your record locator or ticket number, and when you do that it tells you that you are not in LP.
It took a lot of back and forth to get a voucher code instead, and I could only use one device instead of multiple (e.g. work laptop, personal phone, personal tablet).
They should fix this, because it makes the experience feel a bit like they are treating buy-up like a second class LP citizen.

The first time, the FA took my phone to have the purser do something with it and came back with working wifi. I forget how I got it working the 2nd time. If there's a 3rd+ time I was going to try waiting to buy it on board but from the above it sounds like that doesn't work any better either...

But I must be honest, I've used an Ulti certificate to upgrade from Y, so I'm not complaining

Nice. The price is probably also determined based on originating in Switzerland (which I am sure increases the price).

Can you define ground staff? Kindly forgive my naiveté, but are we talking gate agent or ticketing counter or lounge staff? That's definitely not something I thought of previously.

Edit :
back to P3F2
CDG SIN P2F1 tomorrow
2039 € or 254900 miles
Other options
1500 +63k miles
1000+127k miles
500+ 190k miles
not bad and I am debating with myself, but window seat is blocked for I don’t know what reason and I don’t want to be in the middle!
My ticket was originally in Y (bought for me for an event) and I modified the outbound to J (O class) 2 days ago for 800€ which is pretty good!

That's not too bad. So you can go from Economy to First for approx. $3,000. Didn't know you could do two upgrades.
