NOTE ON GETTING OLCI OFFER ON OAL ORIGINATING:
If the AF LP flight segment is down line from your originating segment operated by another airline which forces you to use the OAL’s checkin system, you can manually use the AF website to check-in for the downline AF flight and still get the offer. For example, GRU-MEX-CDG sold as AM14 / AM 6103 (operated as AF179), you can checkin via AM as usual. Before or after, go to the AF website for the currency you want to pay for the upgrade in. Check-in using just your PNR / Lastname and the AF flight number you want to check-in for. It will allow a mid-trip check-in and will offer the LP upgrade if eligible.

Actually, they merged the two PNRs at La Premiere check in at SFO on Dec 25, which was great.

brunos - Correct - USD $2500 plus tax one way SFO-CDG. It was really worth it Beyond the actual flight it included Salon La Premiere for my four hour layover at CDG, and a Mercedes private car from my inbound plane to the Salon, and then another private Mercedes from Salon to my gate for the outbound to Vienna.

I am glad you had good time. I had the pleasure of experiencing it few months ago due to Lufthansa strike, I got rerouted from CDG-MUC-JFK to CDG-JFK direct flight and it turned the usual CDG experience upside down in very positive way.

I am actually curious about merging those itineraries you mentioned. I was not aware that it is possible, only splitting . Is that any special procedure?

@honzeek_cz - I don't think so. I just gave both PNRs to the La Premiere desk at check in at SFO and they were able to join them - although they were still two separate PNRs - but I credited mileage for both to my Delta account, even though one reservation was made on delta.com and the other was made on airfrance.com - hope that is helpful. Glad you got to experience La Premiere : )

I suspect that the itineraries were "linked" or cross referenced. You can't merge PNRs. Also, you should be able to buy a ticket from the AF website and credit it to a DL FF account, although people have reported problems if there was ever a FB FF number associated with the itinerary or if the reservation is opened or added when logged into a FB account. Those FB numbers tend to really stick!

Correct: In Amadeus Reservations, the PNRs remain separate.

What actually happened was that the "Customer Records" (fancy term used by Amadeus Altea DCS for "Check In Record") in the Departure Control System (DCS) got merged into one. This is a feature unique to airlines using Altea DCS as their check-in system.

@daniellam - that sounds right. Thanks. And I'm fairly sure I will have to send my CDG-VIE and my VIE-CDG boarding passes to Delta to ever get credit for them ; 0

Credit will be possible only if the flights were on AF metal.

hi there,
do you know if the price differs at OLCI or at the airport?
I’m considering it for an upcoming SFO-CDG booked with miles in business, $2500 seems like a lot but it’s very tempting...

They differ, and OLCI is usually cheaper

ok thanks. If it’s not offered at OLCI but I still see them selling F tickets for that flight, I can call to request upgrade?

unless you are Platinum or Ulti, I don't think you can call (I admit I can be wrong or this) but rather you have to see this at the airport.

what is the best way to know if the offer from OLCI is better/worse than what will be offered at airport? Or is it totally random?

my question about calling was once OLCI opens...or is the restriction on calling based on status and not timing of request (i.e. once OLCI opens and the upgrades are available to non-Plat/Ulti)

There is no way to know, as the price that will be proposed to you depends on many factors determined in a secret algorithm
For instance, for a year, it seems that I am blacklisted for paid upgrades by AF

It's just that I don't think the call centers handle the paid upgrades for the large bulk of pax. For Ulti, they do it and I believe for Platinums too. But for the rest of the crowd, I believe it is at OLCI or at the airport. But you have no risk to try to call of course.
