AF metal Medium-haul - USB sockets deactivated for security reason

hello,

I have just flown a Medium haul AF segment and was surprised that for the second time this summer, USB charging sockets are deactivated. (Ex-Joon A320 and AF A321)
According to the FA, this decision applies to all aircrafts for security reasons!

Any additional info about this decision ?!

From what I have read, not security but safety reasons. Apparently there have been some incidents (fire outbreaks) involving 319/320/321 USB sockets and they will be changed sooner or later. Until then all of them would remain deactivated.

The USB outlets are like wall outlets. They are not on a network, power only.

Airplanes have 3 seperate networks. Flight systems, IFE and maintenance.
