Paid F fare ideas
Looking to do a one way from SFO/LAX to CDG for 2 in paid F this fall and coming up with one way fares of $12-17k per person! Ironically its cheaper to book a roundtrip for ~$10k.
Any ideas on how to route this to get some of those $6-7k fares mentioned in other threads?

Yeah this happens because of the fare bucket it books you in. Some airlines only allow you to book full flex fares on one-way itineraries which increases the price significantly compared to booking round trip in a less flexible fare bucket....Look at different airlines that the one you were and/or wait for some promo or monitor what fare buckets they have opened up and call to ask/book. Another idea: book the R/T but "accidentally" forget to take the return leg....

One ways on KL/AF are always exceedingly expensive because of a multitude of reasons: one-ways are only sold full-flex, they're on the hook for immigration issues, and a few other factors. Goes for Y, J and F. Just book RT and keep an eye on Premium Fare Deals for when sales / price matching goes on on F trips.

Another option would be to use miles. I know it's a ton of miles, but they're good for one-way travel. Let's say you have absolutely none in your FB account, for €6,875 you could buy the required 400k miles for 2 one-way flights. Based on how you worded the question I assume it's for 2 people. The only issue is that you have to be at least Silver to use miles to redeem F awards. You'd also need F availability on the days you want to travel which, this close, could be hard. Anyways, just a thought.

Bear in mind the T&Cs though:
During the promotional period, Elite members can receive a maximum bonus of 100,000 Miles, while Explorer members can receive a maximum bonus of 45,000 Miles. Bonus Miles will be rewarded on transactions made between 7 and 30 September 2018, 2359 CET +1, and will be credited to the recipient’s account when the transaction is complete. Miles are sold in units of 2,000 Miles. Elite members may purchase an unlimited number of Miles, while Explorer members may only purchase or receive up to 75,000 Miles in any calendar year, unless a promotion is active in which case it is possible to either purchase or receive Bonus Miles on top of the 75,000 Miles.

Didn't read the fine print, sorry! In that case, it could be combined with CC points, if available. The issue would still be whether or not the OP is FB Silver or higher...

Another option is to consider a long weekend or other shortish trip to Paris or anywhere close by and to book the return segment for the end of that trip. Purchase a dirt cheap ticket of any kind for that second trip and one has a nice long weekend with an F seat on the return.
Not sure what OP means by "ironic" in the context of his post. California and France are different markets, AF markets full F differently to meet markets and the pricing is fairly consistent across many of its routes (as it is for many carriers).

Using ITA matrix powertools with Priceline link, I was able to look up the fare. Even got mildly excited as the initial fare was $ 2.00 but "jumped" to $ 5167.11 at checkout. More about powertools in this Thread. Good luck!
