AF Business class carry on luggage allowance

The website indicates that 2 hand luggage pieces and accessory (laptop bag) are allowed but luggage calculator on AF site suggests this is not true for flights originating in the United States.
I was thinking of taking a 21 inch carry on, a small shoulder bag, and a small garment bag (mostly for my jacket).
Anyone has any experience?

I think it's a TSA requirement. AF doesn't really care.

TSA does not care how many bags you are bringing.
Technically in Business Class, you can get 2 full size carry ons and 1 accessory such as small backpack or laptop bag. There is a weight limit but I have never seen any gate agent weighing Business Class carry ons.

So just for clarity as I'm about to enjoy my first J flight on AF in a few years flying ATL-CDG-CPT in Business ........

Even though the Air France website says one hand baggage for Business leaving from the US, I can get away with 2? I'm carrying a soft duffle carry on and back pack but the back pack exceeds personal item dimensions somewhat. From what I've read on FlyerTalk in a few posts thanks to the trusty search engine it seems that AF won't give me trouble and that I won't have an issue with weight as I'm connecting via CDG rather than originating there?

But there is some rule in the US about hand luggage. Swiss restricts passengers in Business and First to one piece of hand luggage + handbag/computer bag if travelling to the US and blames US rules.

Airlines often point to the FAA, but that's kind of a weasel-y way to point back at their own policy, since

Under FAA regulations, anything that is larger than your airline’s carry-on bag weight/height restrictions must be checked. Each piece of checked luggage must also meet your airline’s checked luggage policies. Anything larger than the airline’s standard regulations may require additional fees. For a more complete look at your airline’s luggage restrictions by class, active duty passenger discounts, pet regulations and international travel, please see your airline's website.
Basically, if they quote 'US hand luggage rules', they quote their own. AF/KL get away just fine with 2 items + personal item.
