It seems that even Joon aircraft has started to get wifi equipment installed. Just boarded F-GKXY which has the wifi dome installed and wifi stickers on the seats. However only the Joon network is active so i imagine it will only be activated when the aircraft is repainted in AF colours.

Yes. It has actually been like that for at least two months. I have been on that plane (no, I do not note down the reg of every plane I am flying on. But I remember observing exactly the same thing a few months ago, and since I am on JN planes very seldomly I just checked whether that particular plane you are mentioning happens to have flown the route I was on that particular day. Cross-referencing FR24 and my own diary does the trick ;-) )

The other thing that I find strange is that some planes that have been in maintenance for several weeks do come back but - at least according to Airfrance.fr - without WiFi installed. I will in fact remove them from the Wiki list of planes that are getting re-fitted until I have some confirmation.

Is the wifi on 787's reliable? Is it offered on all flights, hence if the equipment shows AF 787 (I ahve a BKK flight coming up) I have to assume there will be a working wifi?

Not sure about its reliability, but it worked great on my last longhaul flight.

On those flights that had WiFi, it worked almost every time. Never had a flight where WiFi was down for the entire flight. Patches of lack of coverage, yes, but completely down, never. On those patches of lack of coverage, this isn't aircraft type-specific, at least I cannot say that the 777 WiFi is better or worse than the 787.

I am flying CDG-ATL this Thurs on the old 777-300 ER. I do not know the tail number yet, but wondered if this route often does or does not have Wifi.

Sorry, but what's "the old 777-300 ER" mean? There are two configurations for this bird?
