Indeed, that was not a bad price IMO.

I know the AF sometimes offers paid upgrades at OLCI or at the gate, but is it ever possible via FB miles ? Wondering if I should transfer miles from my AMEX in advance of an IAD-CDG flight in October.

OLCI upgrades are cash only, DOD upgrades can be done with miles/cash/both.

Advanced upgrades are also possible with miles. When possible, this is proposed in MMB.

Never transfer Amex points/miles to FB in advance in case of you may have a use in the future.
You transfer when you are sure you can use them. Once you transferred to FB, there's no return.

If it was an eastbound flight and on the 777 BEST config, I might have considered it (although unlikely, given I paid quite a bit for my Y ticket already). But a westbound daytime flight, I can live with the upper deck of the A380.

Will see how the return flight next week turns out.
