AF has switched my YYZ-CDG flight from 772 to A343

I was happy to fly on a refurbished 772, and now, AF has just switched my YYZ-CDG flight to an A343
I only fly in Y, but still, it is disappointing: the interior is antiquated, and I don't like this a/c type

Silver lining if you are in Y, 2-4-2 is more spacious that 3-4-3

If I was in J on this I would Be extremely disappointed

indeed, in J, you can just cry. But in Y, OK the IFE is prehistorical on the A343 but it’s much more comfortable than the sardine can of the B777 with 10-abreast seating. The IFE problem can be circumvented by bringing your own device (tablet) or a book.

When I read the thread title I was almost sure it's by an affected J passenger - didn't know that even Y flyers complain on that.

Sheer curiosity: what help is the USB port for? Are the AF TATLs now internet connected?

The USB port is handy if you would like to charge a mobile device

I recommend the Anker PowerCore 20100 mAh, I never travel without since you can't rely on the USB port presence (or capabilities). I saved a few "neighbours" with it as well.

AF Will offer it to me as a compensation

Seriously, do you think the a/c type can change once again?
2 years ago, I flew CA on PEK-SHA, and the a/c type changed many times before the flight: 77W, then A333, then 772, then again 77W, and finally, I got the mighty 748
But I know AF is a different matter, and that the A343 was a regular at YYZ for a long time

For me that's an upgrade!
You went from a 10 abreast 777 to a 2-4-2 A340.

Plus the seats on the A340 are much more comfortable in my opinion. The seat's cushion is a lot thicker offering extra comfort whereas the slim-ish seats on the 777 are too hard.

I would take that over a usb port any day
trooper and Goldorak like this.

This is exactly what I thought when I saw the OP was flying Y.

Come on!

If you are flying alone, you can take on of the 2 seats on the sides (and have only one neighbour bothering you). If you are 2, this is even better!

I take a 343 over a 772 in Y any time!

Where the IFE is concerned, it is such a short flight that the basic on board IFE is enough once one has had food and a couple of drinks. The music selection is OK.
