AF fares in O class

AF has started to publish fares in O class, in Europe and North Africa.
Though mileage earning will be adjusted I am sure (maybe already adjusted on some FB websites), but the concern is with taking space that would otherwise be available for awards.
Does AF have additional/ internall award inventory classes for classic awards? If so, then this will just reduce the availability for partners.
I do not fly AF a lot, so do not know what the impact to award availability of having fares in X class that happend longer time ago.

It is for a very long time now that AF & KL are "selling" award tickets in many classes, namely for AF F, O, C, D, Z, A, S, X, B, Q, T, N, E, W, R and V

Can you give an example of an AF O fare? AF has some weird revenue management habits in european business class, you can find flights with Z availability but no D. Also finding J5C0D0I0Z0O2 is not unheard of by my books. And awards in European business class are so expensive with FB that I doubt many would book them as such. It could however restrict availability for flights connecting to/from long haul awards.

Interesting... and so typically AF: the Z fare (which allows SU operated flights) cannot be combined with the O fare (which does not allow SU operated flights) because the Z rules date from the time there was no O fare... and they have not been updated accordingly once these O fares have been published.

Also the difference between O and Z is only 50 EUR per direction, I guess they wanted to give an incentive for fliers to take AF operated flights but they should have used a different fare code on the Z basis, like ZLS1FR at 685 EUR and keep ZLSFR at 735 EUR.

However, one of the main benefit of having award booking classes used as revenue booking classes is that availability for awards is usually pretty good, like awards in long haul premium economy which books in A class. The reason why they now cost 2x the Y level when business is just 2.5x is certainly more justified by the fact that they are widely available than by the quality of AF premium eco.

Except that O is for long-haul awards only unless I am mistaken.

I just had a look into what these idiots did with new fares

Very close but not same to Iberia when they changed A from first to promo economy. Not close to what you can get from that though - the choice is relatively limited

Check F and P fares within Europe and booking classes for secondary airlines.

AF business class fares other than to or from CDG had their structure changed recently. It used to be ZLSXX (14 days advanced purchase, non ref, 70 EUR change fee), then D3FFXX was full flex for 125-135 EUR more per direction. Now there are I3FFXX for this 125-135 EUR fare difference, and D costs 50-60 EUR more than I. I have not seen O fares yet if not from/to CDG.

EDIT: just checked again, I found O fares on MAD CPH for example. 21 days advanced purchase and 50 EUR cheaper per direction than Z fares that are still what they used to be, 14 days advanced purchase. O fares can be combined with J C D Z I fares but Z fares cannot be combined with O fares. Most likely a mistake fare

So enjoy intra Europe flights at 100 EUR per segment with 250% earning... before FB becomes revenue based!

BTW i booked one itinerary with segments in O and it was showing (based on my calculation) 200% of status miles for O class (when i purchased the ticket).
However, now the itinerary shows zero for O class segments

Strange, normally Europe business class earns 250% miles regardless of the booking class. But O is not earning as it is an award booking class... and FB has certainly not be updated yet that O is now also a revenue booking class.

I recently booked a paid ticket with JNB-CDG (O class) CDG-AMS (K class) AMS-JNB (H class). What are the chances DL will give me MQM for that O class flight? Any advice for getting DL to give MQM for paid AF business booked into O class? I ask because I need that flight to credit as business class MQM for a promo. Thanks!
