Launching a long-haul low-cost airline is not a bad idea per se providing:
- they know how to properly run a low-cost airline (spoiler: they don't)
- they had not already five brands/airlines of which two provide a low service (did I say low cost?)

Illegal in the US: § 135.121 Alcoholic beverages.
(a) No person may drink any alcoholic beverage aboard an aircraft unless the certificate holder operating the aircraft has served that beverage.
(b) No certificate holder may serve any alcoholic beverage to any person aboard its aircraft if that person appears to be intoxicated.
(c) No certificate holder may allow any person to board any of its aircraft if that person appears to be intoxicated.

And it is legal in the UK: Bring on Board... The exact rules on alcohol? BA allows it?
BA employées confirm this is perfectly OK.
And anyway French law would apply on Joon. I have no knowledge on that though,

In the US it is legal to consume your own booze if you can convince the flight crew to serve it to you.

Whatever, it will be good to read about any experiences of Joon flights and the service onboard, especially on longer segments. That’s what I keep checkIng in here for.

Report from BA forum:
Traveled last week to Lisbon with Joon (Air France new budget airline). We had to stay on the ground at CDG for 45 for teh fog to clear up at LIS. During the 45 minutes wait, cabin crew came with mineral water and served all passengers. After take off, CC came around the cabin offering free coffee, tea, water and juice to all pax. They also had BoB items in their trolleys. At no point, were they waiving the BoB menu and asking passengers if they wanted something from the menu. They just proactively offered the free drinks. If you asked for a coffee, they would also ask you if you wanted water. I found that so nice that I asked for muesli bar and a smoothy from the menu. The flight attendant charged me only for the smoothy (not sure if it was because I am Platinum or just a goodwill gesture). But it was a nice experience. And I realized that event though it was BoB, there was a lot of interactions with the crews and you felt, ok they give free drinks so I might as well buy something to go with it.

Flying FCO-CDG-EZE in Business on March 30th. I changed my FCO-CDG booking to an earlier flight so as to have a full day in Paris, and it turns out it now shows as "operated by Joon".
