IME plate does not matter as long as it is AF marketed.

You don't give us the most important information : were you booked under LX or AF code ?

Apologies, 724 is meant Swiss stock (as opposed to 057 for AF)

No , I'll try to make it clearer : are your flights booked under AF or LX code ? e.g. AF1256 or LX7896 for instance.

Really? Are you sure? With Star Alliance, I was of the understanding that operating carrier was what determined mileage earnings etc. But the AF/LX tie up on the Geneva Paris route is somewhat unique, I believe.

Nothing unique about this route.

With FB, the operating carrier is of secondary importance.

The marketing carrier MUST be FB affiliated. In case the marketing carrier is neither FB nor FB partner, then no miles are accrued.

Where the operating carrier matters, is in case of code share flights for marketing carriers other than AF/KL.

In that case, the operating carrier must be Skyteam, bearing in mind that ALL AF/KL coded flights accrue miles irrespective of the operating carrier.

For example:

- AFXXXX operated by LX : mile accrual
- AZXXXX operated by LX: no mile accrual

There may be other subtleties, but this is the broad idea.

Hi Concerto,

What makes the CDG-GVA route - or GVA-CDG from your perspective - unique?

Operated by a Skyteam airline and marketed by *A is not very common I believe? The other way around seems to be happening more often.

I think Xandrios answered it. Air France and SWISS aren't exactly buddies, so it seems an unusual tie up. And it seems that you can earn M&M miles on it, which would appear to go against the way Star Alliance mileage collection works. Similar to the AF OS tie up on PAR-VIE, no?

Also, in past years SWISS was able to justify running its own service as n the route. But not any longer, it seems.

Go to a *A airline forum and you will see people complaining that they did not get miles on flights marketed by OS but operated by AF on CDG/VIE route.

Regarding FB miles, same as for GVA:

- AF marketed (AF or OS operated): FB miles

- OS marketed (AF or OS operated): no FB miles

I had indeed this unfortunate experience many years ago. Flying CDG-VIE on OS-marketed / AF-operated and got no miles on my UA card (if I would have been a M&M member, I would have earned the miles). Similar rules with FB.
