Is this a new policy? A couple of years ago I got opup'ed from J to P and did receive the regular P service all the way through, including lounge and limo service. And I'm just a regular "plouc" platinum.

I think you were lucky or had other factors involved. I've never received P ground services on an op-up.

To my experience, it depends when is the upgrade done

If the upgrade is done at check-in, you'll benefit from P services with access to the lounge.
Happened only once to me on over 500 flights

If the upgrade is done at boarding, you will not receive P ground services on arrival

I think my last op-up came in one of the CDG business class lounges. I had done OLCI the day before, and when I arrived at the lounge they handed me a P boarding pass. But I was not invited to the P lounge.

Another time I recall getting an op-up was at check in at BOM. But I don't think they had anything special for P pax at BOM. And no, I'm not talking about long ago when Plat's in business class were all upgraded to the large P cabin on the BOM flights. That was not quite the same thing!

I tried to challenge that once on an op-up at check-in. I went to the La Première lounge and asked if I could get access. She was surprised I arrived by myself. I told her I was given a P boarding pass at check-in but I had not paid a first class ticket. Access denied.
I reply that in this case, I should get access in case I fly to London on La Première ticket (like PEK CDG (stopover) LHR) since I would have paid La Première fare... but suddenly what matters is not anymore the fare paid but the class in which I am travelling. So consistant.

I did upgrade once at check in desk at CDG. Agent called La Premiere staff who picked me up at check in desk and escorted me to La Premiere lounge.

If you pay for the upgrade (cash or miles), of course you get access to P lounge and ground services

yes, HIPP are not VIP, but super VIP. Access to all P ground services where they are available. And when you think they do not need to be good customers

I have a paid roundtrip ARN-LAX La Première ticket that permits CDG stopovers.
If my return was LAX-CDG, stop for a few days and then CDG-ARN in J, any chance of getting LP service and LPL access prior to the CDG-ARN flight?

I don’t think so. It’s only when the connection is in a 24 hour window IIRC.

Yeah, kind of figured that might be the case. Thanks Goldorak.

I 100% confirm it is that way. I have such tickets all the time. Connecting within a 24 hour window (or at least the next day) is a precondition. After that, you’re with the plebs in 2F

When I challenged the La Premiere staff about it when I got an opup, I think they told me that the 24 hours rule got improved and that now it is next day after P arrival, meaning that landing at 6:00 am and leaving next day at 20:00 on another non P flight, it should give P ground service.

Confirms what I wrote above. Just wasn't sure whether the rule is 24 hours but practice is "next day", or whether they have changed the rule. After all, you might have a departure more than 24 hours after arrival but still go to the lounge already several hours before.

Will be flying from BDU to MEX in P next sunday.

Massage booked and LP staff was very reactive.
Probably, the lounge will not be very busy considering the on-going travel restrictions...
