P Lounge access against extra fees

As most of you know, you can buy a P Ducasse lounge access if you are booked in J on a plane non equipped of a P cabin.
As a matter of fact, I tried mid January to book a P lounge access at the La Premiere hotline for my next trip to JFK with my wife .
They required me 1000 for the two of us I instead of 600 following a price increase...

Are you saying the new price is 500 euros? I just paid 300 for this a year ago! It is definitely not worth it for 500.

Yes I confirm, they increased the one off fee end of 2019 to 500 per PAX with the usual restrictive access conditions

I suspect they had to decrease the number of these PAX to serve the HIPP members who are now entitled to use the P lounge whatever the travel class and whatever the destination. Shame for paying PAX...

OMG
Indeed, I checked and it is now 500 EUR or 75000 miles
That's a huge increase !!! Hardly understandable and justified. The price never changed since they introduce this paid access, so we could understand an increase, let's say to 350 or 370 EUR. This huge increase is a big mistake IMO as it was helping them to absorb a part of the fixed costs of the operations, while providing superb experience to pax. I don't think anyone will pay 500 E, at least not me. So they loose a significant revenue and they have instead free HIPP guests who are not even their best customers. Go figure...
And if you add to this a possible decrease of P capacity with A380 withdrawal and still unconfirmed plan for maintaining capacity.

What they could have done instead is maintaining the 300 fee (or 350) and not including free massage, so the fee would still cover the most important part of the experience : ground escort, limo and food.

Completely agree. 500 for having just a portion of the P service doesn't worth it. Sometimes they prefer to loose a global amount of money by having such policies (similar to the upgrades) than reducing the prices for passengers like us who are fine by paying a certain decent amount for such extra perks.

Let's see...

What is HIPP? Not in the glossary.

Wow! Yeah 500 euros is a lot... 300 euros I was ok with it but not 500.
That being said, I'm not overly surprised. I talked to 2 different agents last time and they told me that they had a LOT of requests for paid P ground services and that more often than not they have to decline. I can testify it's at least true to an extent, I tried probably 3 times last year to get those services (I was of course on eligible flights) and every time they told me they are at capacity already. So if it's as popular as they say, they might as well give it a shot although nearly doubling the price is insanity.
That might change once the A380 goes away though .

Thanks for the data point, that's always interesting. It's nice that they have a lot of demand and they are controlling the capacity, so it is OK. It means that it was rightly priced. I doubt that it will be rightly priced at 500 EUR...

I used it P lounge access in the past every time I was flying in J when no P available, in particular when my travel plans implied a J/P or P/J depending on unavailability of P cabin on the leg out of Paris.

I booked one access last week and was told the new price, was very disappointed about it but still paid as it was last minute and did not want not to enjoy it.

Surprisingly enough I stayed there for 3 hours and was the only guest during my stay (hence no sign when I was there of surpopulation due to HIPPs)

Agree that hat at this new price is really not worth it and given the price you already for the tickets feels like they crossed the line of price elasticity, even for regular P clients who are used to spend fortunes on airfares (I will never forget the 14k return ticket from CDG to JFK that I paid last minute especially while I travelled in the old cabin on the A380. Urgent client meeting and no choice on hours).

Also noted inconsistent information about reducing / expanding P service. Tried to book a return ticket to Dubai in March and was told P service no longer available - at least temporarily.. - and on my last flight back to a Paris in La Suite, was told that AF is considering adding a second row of 4 seats of La Suite in some flights...).

I am really not sure I would pay 500k again (not even 75k miles) for a service that I used a lot and was part of my fidelity to the airline as a frequent P passenger (not Ulti and not Hipp).

This is sad and is just going to push me to fly other airlines when routes allow to have better options (such as SIN, HKG, the gulf...) but will let me with a much more standard service on routes that I fly often (NYC / MIA) where there'a no real alternative leaving out of Paris....

I do not know what's the overall economy of the P lounge and how many paid access they had every month but reading this thread makes me think that most users like us won't pay anymore which will not help balancing their finances if that was they goal..

and if if the goal was to limit the number of persons in the lounge it was already subject to availability based on max desired amount of clients at the same time...

Not good AF ;(
