Unhappy The end of the B744 in AF fleet is approaching...

According to AirlineRoutes, the end of the 744 AF operations is approaching fast. During winter 15/16, it will be limited to 1 destination : MEX.
I'm glad I have 3 flights booked in a 744 between May and August. I will miss flying in the nose at the lower deck and the Y cabin at the upper deck.

+1. It says something sad about the airline industry that both for AF and BA, the disappearing 744s are possibly my favourite aircrafts in at least some of the cabins!

KL just retrofitted their frames with the new J seats, so we can still fly them there . Is there any known date for phasing them out for KL ?

The first is supposed to go later this year apparently, with a staggered draw down over the next couple of years. Plenty of time for them yet.

Only 5 left in the fleet as of today.
I love the upper-deck Y-class seats, especially row 65. IMHO, the best Y experience you can get at AF

I also love the 747s. Although their layout is also very well thought through, I always get the feeling that these planes are from the days that fuel prices were less of an issue so cabin layout was les of a worry. I mainly fly klm so will still have some years to go with this big bird but will definitely miss them!

It seems confirmed that the end of 744 ops at AF (to MEX) will be on 26 march 2016

F-GITI

Flew YUL-CDG on May 3rd.
Aircraft: F-GITI.

This flight was announced by PNC as the last flight for this 747-400.
Will eventually end up at Musée de l'Air in Le Bourget.
We got fireman salute while leaving YUL.

Not that it is important, but F-GITI is still flying (MEX yesterday and BOS today). Another frame might have gone tech.
