About a year ago or so I was in the DL lounge, either SFO or JFK as I did a lot of transcons at that time, and I had a nice conversation with one of the staff that roams around. I gave her a tip for her service and she brought me a glass of Dom Pérignon from the bar. It think it normally costs $40 for a glass, but my cash tip was significantly less. That was the best glass of Champagne I've had in an airport lounge in some years. Most DL lounges have good Champagne, but you have to pay for it, one way or the other.

Heathrow Terminal 3 - ASPIRE Lounge
Name of the lounge: Aspire Lounge
Location : Departure Level. Close to Gate 9
Aspire Lounge at Terminal 3 is near gate 9. It's by far samller than n1 lounge.
Breakfast food is exactly the same.
No fresh orange juice. Same coffee machine.
No free proseco nor champagne.
Showers are chargeable.
For the 6.20am Air France flight it's perfect but end of morning/early afternoon it will more than difficult to find any seated place.

Re champagne at the IAD AFKL lounge, I've sometimes been served Taittinger or some other premier cru when traveling in P. It's often Nicolas Feuillate served in a fancier glass (they have an array of high-end crystal ware on the P side of the bar). I've never gotten it warm, however, and know that the attendant normally on duty when I travel through there keeps a lot of bottles in the fridge. She's emptied close to a dozen in one shift, according to what I saw, since champagne is what most people who belly up to the bar order.
I've generally assumed that IAD's uneven/indifferent selection of wines, including champagne, stems from supply chain issues AF probably can't control. Virginia is awful in terms of state regulation, as the recurrent eye-rolling conversation I have with flight attendants apologizing for not being able to serve a glass of champagne aboard the aircraft prior to the door closing and taxiing out for takeoff. There seem to be some P wine offerings at the bar, but I don't count on anything beyond what the rest get. It's all French, but, on the red side, little beyond a Burgundy and a Bordeaux; never a Rhône Valley wine or something light and slightly chilled (e.g., named Beaujolais village or something from the Loire). Summer brings the token rosé. Lots of white Sancerre, but little else other than a nondescript Burgundy (or, in the U.S., "Chardonnay"). As to temperature, the whites and rosés are chilled properly, but no care is taken to serve the reds at anything other than ambient temperature (i.e., too warm).
Sadly, I've not been able to get a gin or vodka martini since one lucky occasion.
BTW, I found out in February from a former AF gate agent that another source of the overload in this lounge is that it welcomes eligible Saudia pax! Not sure how many, and none I've seen have worn anything other than "western" clothing. It makes sense, since Saudia is part of SkyTeam and there is an evening flight to Riyadh from IAD most days of the week. I know I'd be looking for a drink or three before 12+ hours en route to Riyadh. That may explain why it's a bit on the QT.

CDG 2E-K Lounge Showers
Apologies for a potentially repeated question, but, shall I assume you do not have to book for the showers in CDG 2E-K? The line for security is very long and the jetlag means I am in a mood; shower would be fantastic.
Cheers,
Lawrious

Is it possible to get in the lounge as a plat with two kids (1 over 18 thus adult, and 1 below 18) ?
I have read somewhere that the rule is either 1 guest or 2 kids below 18
We are two plats, but have 3 kids 😁

Children under 12 also are not counted.
You might try to appeal to the dragon, else you can buy in. That would be 60 EUR in CDG, which is significant, but still less than if 5 people went to have a look at the airport restaurant.

Fow what it's worth, Fall 2018, we were a group of 10 (8 adults + 2 teens - 17 year old) travelling with 2 platinum elites. At the lounge counter (CDG 2E on the way to, then 2F on the way back), AF personel told us that during school vacation (it was "la Toussaint"), plats could have one regular guest + an extra guest <18. As a result, the 2 plats managed to offer lounge entry to 4 persons

I haven't heard any reports of the new new lounge turning away FFs. If memory serves, there were some hiccups in the temporary JET lounge in B area, this has been closed now anyway (replaced by new Vienna lounge upstairs at junction of C and D)
we are awaiting a review of this one still. As I mentioned upstream, I was in Vienna earlier this week, but since IRROPS did not screw me over on this return leg, I stayed in F pier.
I believe Goldorak is supposed to visit this week or next and will no doubt provide a comprehensive review as usual.

That lounge looks great.
I've spent my Friday afternoon, as previously mentioned, in the Aurora lounge. As the summer of travel hell would have it, I did not escape chaos in T5 security, but my decrying of missing Pontus was saved by the SAS strike. And unlike AF, the KL flight was not delayed 4+ hours (and I believe ultimately cancelled, as the plane left ARN only the following morning)
The pre-covid reports were not very complimentary of the lounge, with some exceptions, which I don't count myself with. This is one of the weirdest lounges I've been in and not in a good way. It feels like an ikea showroom in that every table has different seats, there are walls that sort of divide the area but don't really, and in general it feels not welcoming at all.
Food offer abysmal, the wine I did not dare try. The singular saving grace of this lounge is the pretty good beer on tap.
