Requesting Upgrade on Aeroplan Ticket -- May 24 YYZ-MCO
HI All,
First time I have tried to get a reward ticket upgraded. When I search on expert flyer it says reward space (x) is available or YES. What exactly does that mean? How many credit would be required?
Is there any particular strategy involved?

There is no ability to eUpgrade X tickets.
You can hope for a cash-paid LMU, the price of which will be quoted to you through online or kiosk check-in if AC has chosen to make such available. Or you can change the fare basis of your ticket to a Business Class reward redemption on AC through AP by ensuring at least one segment of your AP itinerary is confirmed in I (which will involve a change fee + additional points). You will then eligible to waitlist for Business Class if you are unable to confirm I on the AC segments. The waitlist sometimes, but not always clears into J (Business Class), depending on space available.

Also, to add to @canadiancow - you can only request the upgrade within one day (so at the time of checkin).

Given that eUpgrades for Aeroplan Fixed Mileage Flight Awards are periodically and temporarily available with lowest of the low priority, what is the practical "ability" to eUpgrade such X tickets? Anyone had success?

But it depends who is upgrading, since you are stuck at requesting this at T-24.

Cabin, status, fare class.
On two cabin aircraft, SE in X is still going to be above an E75K MM in full Y.
