So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

YYZ-NRT $889 + tax

Lowest I've ever seen, but declined anyway. Then we were delayed 3.5 hours for deicing, making this a 17 hour flight. Worked out to be pretty good value on this one for those who did accept.

Not a bad deal. I might have taken it. I was checking my 21 year old son in and $299 would have killed his budget. Maybe if it was not a morning flight and he got free booze out of it too! I checked the seating chart on AC and at that time there were no seats remaining in Y and EVERY seat was free in J.

YEG-YVR December 26/12.

Approximately 18 hrs prior to departure. $148 plus tax. Award ticket.

YVR-YEG January 1/13

Approximately 18 hrs prior to departure. $148 plus tax. Award ticket.
Approximately 6 hrs prior to departure. $139 plus tax.

I went to check again about 2 hours before departure, but LMU was no longer offered. I would have been curious to know if the price dropped again.

All offers were declined.

AC163 Jan 2 $398 plus tax. Declined. Not sure if Y was oversold or not, but the cheapest Y fare available for purchase was $600 more than J.

YYZ-NRT

Dec. 19 - YYZ-NRT-ITM

YYZ-NRT Tango (G) $1298.00 (taxes in). I actually accepted even though this is the standard LMU price (wife and daughter had gone 2 wks earlier, same rate) b/c I was only going to be in Japan for 6 days and wanted to arrive in good condition.

I had actually more or less planned to LMU...but at that price, I might have been better of buying the outbound (inbound was always planned to be economy) at discount Executive First to get the points but can't exactly remember the prices for J and anyway, I believe you get 100% status miles for even Tango on flights to Japan. Economy was $1800 RT taxes all in...the best I could do as it's kind of a busy time to travel to Japan b/c of Christmas and New Year's. Still $900+1298-whatever the NRT-ITM leg added = ~2000? to NRT was probably a little cheaper than booking the J at the outset. There was no J class from NRT-ITM. It was a dismal narrow body flying bus. But it's an hour flight so who cares. (But having another flight after 13h flight was another reason I LMU)

J-Class was maybe 1/2 full (all the center seats were empty. Couldn't see into the forward section though)

Economy looked pretty full (usually is for AC001)

Wow, I was traveling that route a lot the first half of 2012 and never saw it less than $179 each way.

Very interesting one to post: today, 10:30 pm flight YYZ-YUL, check in 5 hours before, no status, 98 CAD plus tax. Person flying not interested, but I'd probably take it. Lowest I've seen!!

Another one: today's 9:50 pm flight to FRA from YYZ, J4 at T-24, and at that time, LMU offered for 798 CAD plus tax. Still the same @ T-4.

But if she had no status: three free checked bags, lounge access, priority checkin etc. Plus the very good cheese plate! ^
