So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

Cheaper than the outbound which was ~450

Interesting on the variable pricing

July 2 YYZ - YVR 648$ + Tax T+ Fare with J5 on a 763 , my friend with an aeroplan reward ticket on the same flight was offered the LMU for 448$+ Tax. You would think they would make it cheaper for revenue tickets!

Took the upgrade as a special treat for my wife and I on Vegas vacation. Used the iPad App to do the upgrade. Went all the way through, put in the credit card and when I submitted the card, I got an error "An upgrade is no longer available." BUT, the upgrade went through, because when I finished the check in, I checked the seats and we were in J. No credit card authorization when through, no charge was made, and we did indeed get our J seats. So, $298, but really $0.
I had the same problem upgrading YOW-YYC on June 16. My upgrade ended up succeeding as well. I will have to look at my credit card bill to see if I was charged.

My brother flying YYZ-AUA had a $399 offer from an aeroplan ticket. He declined, not unreasonable for a 5 hour flight IMHO. The rest of the family was in J. You can only do so much since he wasn't on the same itinerary as the rest of us and joined us for the second week!

Feels like a pricing error?

This evening, during OLCI: YVR-YYZ for $598+ taxes.

This for the 7 am departure tomorrow. This also does not cover the second leg of my trip, YYZ-YHZ.

Declined, bien sur.

PS Do you think AC prices the UGs based on status? My BP lists my status as E (X fare), but this is the highest UG cost for YVR-YYZ I have seen yet in this thread. Are SEs offered cheaper UGs? Just wondering.

Just for comparison, I got offered an upgrade from J to F YUL-CDG on A380 for 1000 Euro. Not too bad when compared to the 440 upgrade YUL-YYZ or 750 upgrade YYC-YYZ for shorter flights, for a crappy meal, and only a bigger seat. Even better when the price of my ticket is considered: 1999 CAD Z fare ai r/t. I probably will take this one! ^
