So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

Mileage

My apologies if this is a stupid question, but if you buy up to business class with a LMU, are you given RDMs/EQMs based on the original fare purchased or do you get the business class bonus?

You only get the status miles based on original fare purchased.

Was not offered LMU at OLCI, but was op-up to J from Y HKG-YVR as Y was over sold. Obviously quite happy with the upgrade. Food was very food. The same cannot be said about the food from YVR-HKG!

If you check the first few pages of this thread (I didn't bother to look at all of them), there are examples of LMUs offered from LHR, FCO and EZE.

I looked over these and it appears that these upgrades are offered at the check-in desk at the airport and are shown on signs that upgrades are available rather than through on-line check-ins or at kiosks. On the Air Canada site under LMUs it says they are only offered at Canadian and US airports. Maybe these are two different upgrade variations.

I think it is the same type of upgrade. There are often times where AC.com does not have the latest information posted.
