So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

Sorry but this has got to be the worst use of one's bank account. You paid approx. $3.80 per minute of flying time.

Same for AC33 tomorrow in Flex (Q). On Monday it was $648 going the other way also for Q. Not sure if it's $150 more because of the 77L pods. I'll just get the J meal for $13.50 plus tax

YYZ - HKG
Mar 29 tango fare (P)
T - 23:55
$1199
Accepted

Couldn't check-in on iPhone app.

Did it on the web. Took a long time for me to consider while it asked twice if I still want to buy it (had to search FT and flightstats for seat availability lol). When I was ready to pay, it said "Upgrade is no longer available". What a disappointment!

Not giving up so easily, I finished the rest of the OLCI process and tried again from scratch, upgrade was still available.

More than 50% unassigned J seats. Couldn't get flightstats to display availability.

I need advice.

In a few days, I am supposed to do YVR-NRT. Booked in the cheap seats, with a Tango fare, which seemed like a much better idea before I sprained my knee. It's a 333; premium seats in row 18, the bulkhead, are available, but seatguru says the legroom there is not good. Do others agree? Legroom is what matters most right now!

And as much as I hate the thought of actually paying for an upgrade, with a Tango fare I would have no choice. What are the odds of being able to get an upgrade when I check in? Any recent experience with the price on that route?

Seatguru is correct Row 18 does have a bulkhead in front. If you want unlimited legroom in Y, go with row 35, A, C, H or K. Flew in 35C to and from Europe last month, all the leg room you could want. Note 35 D,E, F and G have a bulkhead in front of them and have restricted legroom.

Thanks. Good point; I should have looked farther back. I have reserved seats in that row, both ways.

If a last-minute upgrade comes up, I'd still pay a thousand bucks for it. But this way I am assured of having the legroom that I need.

I have a question regarding LMUs. I know that if one is upgraded using eupgrades, the mileage accrual is based on the original class of service. But, in the case of an LMU, one is paying for the upgrade. Is the mileage accrual changed accordingly? Thanks in advance for the info.

No change. LMU you still get the orig mile accumulation.
