So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

LMU Last Minute Upgrade Offer Vancouver-Seoul

Hi guys,
Is $899 + tax the lowest you've seen for this route (YVR-ICN)? I'm flying in 6 hours. Have never purchased this before. I'm an Elite 2012 and 35K Altitude in 2013, currently hold a tango fare ticket.
- Does the price come down closer to flight time?
- Can you negotiate a lower price with the check-in agent?
- Do you get full mileage if you pay for the upgrade?

Thanks.

There is a dedicated thread for LMUs:

Post your LMUs (Last Minute Upgrades) here.

To answer your questions:

-Maybe, but not very likely from the price you've posted.
-Nope, this isn't the flea market, ya know? Price is set by revenue management.
-Nope, mileage will be based on T.

- Unlikely as the flight is not sold out in Y and there is no urgency on AC's part to free up Y seats with LMUs or Op-ups. FYI, your flight is showing J8 C7 D4 Z4 Y9 B9 M9 U9 H9 Q9 V9 W9 S9 T9 L0 K0 N9 A0 R2.
- Of course you CAN try, but it's unlikely to yield a satisfactory outcome. The LMUs are offered only through electronic channels anyway (i.e. online and kiosk check-in) so the check-in agent is not in a position to influence the price.
- No, you get the mileage for the original fare purchased.

YVR-ICN $899 plus tax (wondering how much is tax, is it just GST) at T-12 and now T-6.

Seriously considering paying for this 11.5 hour flight :-) as I paid cheap T fare ($1350 YYC-SGN return)...Or should I wait for complimentary upgrade?? Economy looks full while there are 8 in J.

2012 Elite with 55 unused eupgrade credits! :-(

*update: Offer accepted, and tax is already included in the $899.

Thanks all! Is the tax just GST or GST plus "other" taxes?

Forgot to ask...Are LMU's offerred for flights where the originating segment is a Non-Air Canada? Reason I ask is if I can only do one upgrade on this trip, I would probably want to do it on the return leg (as I have to go back to work the next day). However, on the return, I'm flying Asiana out of SGN, then AC from ICN to YVR, on to YYC.

The one I bought was $399 + tax = $419, so at least on that route, it was just GST.

You can go through to the confirmation page, which will show full details, without actually buying it.

AC executives like Ben Smith would love to read this kind of post. It affirms that extending T fares to TPAC routes was a gamble that's paid off, at least for now. You're the profile pax they specifically target with these fares (i.e non-upgradeable) and the fact that you are considering paying for LMU to sit up front is precisely what they had hoped the outcome be.

You ended the year not costing AC as much as years before in benefits, maybe even put a bit more in their piggy bank through LMUs or fare up sells!

YUL-LGA $49 OLCI

Never saw it this low so thought I would snag it. Was rejected. Thought it was a glitch hence the rejection only to find out I couldn't take b/c I was SSSSed and had to check in at the airport.

They offered it to me again at the counter for $89, but I declined.

$1298 for YYZ-SCL
No status.
Paid $2,200 (Flex), YOW-YYZ-SCL (r/t), ticket bought 5 days prior to departure

Declined as I have Row 30. Likely would have taken it if stuck in a middle seat or something

Good price, about as low as have seen it for this route. It's usually about $899.

YYZ-LAS, booked in Flex (K). OLCI at T-23 offered $648/pax for 2 pax.

We didn't bite, obviously.

YYZ-EWR - $199
SE, booking code X (award), OLCI T-1.5

Obviously didn't take it but I had a terrible night in YYZ and it was a nice joke to get the day going.
