So we can all get a handle on how they are going to work in the real world, how much they will cost, et c.

Post flight, date, route, original fare basis (T, T+, Lat, etc), and if known, seat inventory (i.e. J9, C7, Z5, I3). If you do upgrade, please also let us know how many empty J seats there were in the cabin, if any. And if you were considering a certificate upgrade, why or why you didn't opt for the LMU.

It would be helpful if this thread could be limited to "just the facts" and no discussion, which could be posted elsewhere. That should make this thread more useful for everyone.

Should anyone want to discuss LMU's further please post in this thread:

I find this amusing. In this thread, people complain that LMUs are too expensive, and no one buys them. In many other threads, people complain they're too cheap, so it's harder to get an upgrade.

I think it's good that they keep them high as it provides some loyalty to the FFer's. I don't think it maximizes revenue as I struggle to see why people would pay $700 plus for a one way transcon upgrade, when they could have purchased J in the first place.

If one takes an LMU from somewhere to Canada (no MLL), can they gain access to another *A lounge simply with a J class boarding pass? I figure that if one is paying such a premium price for their upgrade, they should at least get the same lounge access afforded to any J class passenger. AC's website just lists the MLL but not "Star Alliance lounges".

Yes, youll get lounge access by presenting your business class BP.

AC048 HNL - YVR from T+, $369, accepted.
AC202 YVR - YYC from T+, $199, not so much.

YVR/HNL has switched over to Pineapple service for the winter season, but $369 is reasonable for a 6 hour overnight flight. It's just as, or perhaps a bit more comfortable, than domestic J service. My only complaint is that AC still markets Pineapple operated service as Executive First, which seems a bit disingenuous to me. I think the generally accepted standard for this service is the XM pods.

It's definitely Executive level service, just not Executive First hard product.

I am a bit puzzled as well. I have clients that are travelling to YYC OGG KOA HNL in both January and March and the YYC-Hawaii non-stops are showing XMd aircraft. Does anyone know this for sure? A vast improvement over the Amigo with the 2x2x2 configuration and the same horrible movie for the whole cabin on a 6 hour flight.
