Help Please - Paris - Calgary Travel?

Hello:

A friend requires the best 1 way fare late June to return a student home from Paris. (asks me as I belong to FlyerTalk)

For the best fares AC requires a return trip on many overseas routes. Here is the question.

If you buy a K fare from Paris to Calgary and then latitude Calgary to Paris and after the trip to Calgary ask for a refund on the latitude fare. How would AC handle this?

Any other ideas on getting this as cheap as possible? FYI - when the student went to Paris lost his ticket as it was the day Zoom stopped flying. Got the money back later a a credit card purchase.

Best I can find at this time is multi city Paris - Calgary, Toronto - London June 22 to June 30. $664.62 including all fees and taxes return.

Thanks for the help and advice. Appreciated.

Toss a one way search into here: http://matrix.itasoftware.com see what comes up.

Does it have to be AC? Can he connect from the states, may be a few more options ITA can find

Thanks for this link. 1 way costs far more regardless of carrier. Using multi segments, the best fare option remains AC metal for a return flight per my approach and not using the return portion.

Look forward to other ideas. Take care..

Your gambit won't fly, as combining fares generally results in the most restrictive rules being applied across the ticket.

A cheap return may be less expensive than any one-way.

You can try one of the charters like Air Transat--sometimes works out better for one way than the majors

I believe the OP wants to route the other way, from CDG-YYC.

examples only, just need to look around.

Corsair flies to Montreal from Paris but likely with fare to YYC from YUL, won't be much cheaper, but you never know on any given day . . .

Paris ŕ Montréal

Vol 1 samedi 20 juin 2009
Départ : 16:00 Paris, France - Orly, terminal S
Arrivée : 17:20 Montréal, Canada - P Trudeau International

Compagnie : Corsair SS900 e Appareil : Boeing 747-400

Type de tarif : Horizon/Economique

Légende :e = Billet électronique EUR = EuroDétails du tarif

voyageurs tarif HT taxes
1 adulte(s) x (179,00 + 137,53) = 316,53 EUR

Montant total de votre commande 316,53 EUR

I think Air Transat will be in business in June, not sure about Corsair . . .

This isn't rocket science, just need to think about the charters that fly into any given airport and where they come from.

Just punch in any close city pairs, e.g. Amsterdam Calgary flights; Paris Calgary flights, London Calgary flights; Brussels Calgary flights etc.

but I don't think you will do better than 219 pounds from LGW-YYC

You could see if Air Transat has good fares from Glasgow or other locations where Ryanair flies and just add on an outrageously cheap Ryanair fare, e.g.:

Adult 12.00 EUR
Tue, Jun 23
Flight FR 65 22:50
23:20 Depart
Arrive Paris (Beauvais) (BVA)
Glasgow (Prestwick) (PIK)

Pricing
Going Out (Web Fare)
1 Adult @ 12.00 EUR 12.00 EUR
Taxes/Fees details 0.00 EUR

Total Cost of Flight 12.00 EUR

You would need to bus to GLA from PIK
(they have earlier 12 Euro flights in the day too if you want to o/n in Glasgow.

Unfortunately a next day connect would be required since the Ryanair arrives only 45 minutes before Air Transat leaves. If you look around various pairings you may do better on same day connects., like this on BE (www.flybe.com):

Departing
Flight No. BE7202 Depart Paris CDG Wed 19 Jun 09 09:55 Economy Operated by Flybe Arrive Manchester Wed 19 Jun 09 10:35 Fare rules Total Journey time - 1 hours 40 minutes

plus Thomas Cook/Air Transat from Manchester (same airport for next day connection) for 229 pounds all taxes in!

Prices shown INCLUDE ALL taxes and fees.

OUTBOUND FLIGHTS : Manchester to Calgary

Fares Adult Child Date Depart Arrival Stops Aircraft Airline

instant purchase GBP 229.00 Fri 19 Jun 2009 14:40 16:35 Non-Stop Airbus A330

Total cost -- a shade over $500 CAD for a one way same day trip CDG-MAN-YYC and enough time to connect even if flights are delayed

In addition to Air Transat, flyglobespan (www.flyglobespan.com) also has flights into Calgary from Glasgow, Manchester, London Gatwick, and Dublin. The cost is about 209-219 euros.
