Routes that do not have fuel surcharges (YQ) when operated by carriers that normally charge YQ:

1. USA-Germany-Other country. If only the Germany-other country segment is on LH it does not have YQ. E.g. DFW-FRA-BLR with TATL on UA and FRA-BLR on LH.
2. USA-Canada-Other country. The USA-Canada segment on AC does not have YQ if the Canada-Other country segment is operated by a carrier that does not charge YQ. E.g. DFW-YYZ-ADD.

PER in February or so? I am looking to travel to PER and trying to be as late in our winter or spring but still have a great weather in PER. What is the latest at the beginning of the year the weather is a non-issue?

YYZ-ORD (stop) - C-class on AC
ORD-CPH (openjaw) - J-class on SAS
ZRH-YYZ - J-class on AC

110,000 + $654.36 each

Taxes, fees and charges per passenger
Air Travellers Security Charge (CA) - $25.91
Canada Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST #10009-2287 RT0001) (RC) - $3.25
Combined taxes, fees, charges and surcharges, see fare calculation below (XT) - $625.20

It's the ZRH-YYZ flight that killed me.

have you looked at ZRH-YUL availability on LX? Then YUL-YYZ/YTZ? might be worth the rebooking fee to save scamcharges.

Just ate a change fee and boatload of YQ to switch from YUL-ZRH-HKG on LX C to fly YUL-BOS-FRA-ICN-HKG with the 2 long haul segments on LH F. And that's in addition to the money I paid ExpertFlyer for alerting me of the availability

U.S. Passenger Safety Fee $7.30
Korea Passenger Service Charge $12.20
Canada Domestic/International Air Travel Security Charge $25.91
Germany Airport Security Charge $14.40
Germany International Passenger Service Charge $34.10
Canada Domestic/International Airport Improvement Fee $30.00
U.S Agriculture Fee $5.10
U.S Passenger Facility Charge $5.80
Canada Goods and Services Tax $1.50
Canada Quebec Sales Tax $2.99
U.S.A Immigration User Fee $9.10
U.S. Customs User Fee $7.30
Carrier Surcharge $518.00

Total per passenger $673.70

Yeah, unfortunately there is 0 availability at the end of July / beginning of August for 4 pax in J. I'll keep monitoring though - maybe it's worth the ExpertFlyer subscription to monitor availability.

4 is rare. Can you split the party up and go 2 and 2 ? Maybe the same day but via different cities ?

Yeah, I don't think the wifey would like that... I'm just going to suck it up this trip and wait until the grandparents can give us a week off so I can find a JFK-FRA in SQ F

Boring but just booked one way YVR-MUC in early July for 2 people in business. $480 plus 55,000 points each.

Excited for our first trip on the new Airbus A350-900

Nicely done. I entered itinerary in gcmap and shows 29096 actual flown miles. What's MPM to JNB as your YXS-JNB including all your flights in-between shows as 15301 miles in gcmap?

I didn't ask the MPM, but using the trick mentioned in the "successfully booked" thread, the YXS-JNB MPM was 16,038. That for YVR-JNB was 16,372.

So I still had a bit to play with.
