Routes that do not have fuel surcharges (YQ) when operated by carriers that normally charge YQ:

1. USA-Germany-Other country. If only the Germany-other country segment is on LH it does not have YQ. E.g. DFW-FRA-BLR with TATL on UA and FRA-BLR on LH.
2. USA-Canada-Other country. The USA-Canada segment on AC does not have YQ if the Canada-Other country segment is operated by a carrier that does not charge YQ. E.g. DFW-YYZ-ADD.

PER-SIN (SQ-J) stopover
SIN-TPE (SQ-J)
TPE-YYZ (BR-J)
160,000 Miles + $93.46 taxes. As this was booked online, there was no $30+tax phone-in agent assistance charge.
I don't know how you lucked out with those low taxes. I have a similar booking in that Perth is involved, and I get these just for Australia, and I would presume you have a few more taxes for other places on top of that for SIN stopover?

Australia Passenger Move Charge
$59.50
Australia Domestic/International Safety & Security Tax
$5.40
Australia International Service Charge
$35.80

Super dumb luck?

This was for a booking that I set up for my sister, and I've just reviewed the screenshots that I sent to her when she booked it that day, showing the $93.46 taxes and 160,000 miles. At the time, I also checked the same itinerary, but in economy, and it was 90,000 miles and same $93.46 taxes

I can't re-do the same itinerary on the same dates, because now the availability is not there anymore, but I just did another mocked-up itinerary, with the exact same flights and some random dates, and you're right, the taxes are now showing as $194.36.

For anyone who wants to try, use the Aeroplan website for a multi-city search with the following airports and dates:
YYZ > PER on Feb 28
PER > SIN on Mar 02
SIN > YYZ on Mar 08

Flight 1:
Feb 28 BR35 YYZ-TPE
Mar 01 SQ877 TPE-SIN
Mar 02 SQ226 SIN-PER

Flight 2:
Mar 08 SQ224 PER-SIN

Flight 3:
Mar 13 SQ878 SIN-TPE
Mar 13 BR36 TPE-YYZ

90,000 miles (economy) and $194.36.

Can we set up a wiki showing routes operated by YQ carriers that do not have YQ? Noticed 2:

USA-Canada-other country. The US-Canada sector on AC does not have YQ. E.g. DFW-YYZ-ADD

USA-Germany-Asia. Germany-other country on LH does not have YQ. DFW-FRA-BLR

Yes (and a bit more like LOT low YQ)
No YQ - BR, LX, TK, SN
I thought SA (South african) doesn't?

I have them in my signature thread

I purposely ignored LOT as they have only minor YQ

YYZ-ORD (transit)
ORD-EDI
TOS-OSL (23 hr layover... only German cities allowed as stopovers even though the distances are greater, not sure why)
OSL-FRA
FRA-YYZ

Economy
60k + $435 (YQ of 240)
last two legs are on LH and AC to avoid transiting through New York...

Thanks WKnight, my flight from TPE - YYZ will be May 30, 2018. I still have trouble finding BR direct.

So for simplicity,
YQ on YVR-Europe-YVR is $600 each way = $1200.
But on one ways it would be $600 (ex-canada) + $300 (ex-europe) return
But if booked as a roundtrip, the return leg is $600.
As much as I despise YQ, this way of calculating YQ is hardly unique to AC/AE.

This is consistent with how YQ is calculated on revenue tickets, and afaik all airlines/FFPs that charge YQ will charge a higher amount of YQ on a NA-Europe r/t vs. a NA-Europe one-way + a Europe-NA one-way.

TPE-IST-AMS on TK 777+A330
AMS-YYZ on AC 787-9
YYZ-LAX on AC 787-9
LAX-TPE on BR Hello Kitty

150K miles (BUSINESS class) + $251 tax/fees + $30+tax booking fee
Surprising low YQ ($50 for AMS-YYZ AC segment only I think, YYZ-LAX on AC too)

Is YQ banned/capped ex-TPE? That would explain the low YQ since it was calculated for the whole route.
Its a well know AC scam, usually works out in their favour... Like YYZ-PEK-AKL charges the whole YYZ-AKL YQ even though second leg is on CA/NZ

I don't believe so (not for ex-TPE or into-TPE), ex-HKG or ex-Japan, maybe
I do know AC has strange YQ pockets, glad it worked out in my favour this time

I just priced AMS-YYZ one-way in J = 55K miles + $396 tax/fees ($359 in YQ!!!!)
