Incident: Canada Rouge B763 at Athens on Jul 16th 2019, uncommanded fuel transfer

Simon Hradecky, created Wednesday, Jul 17th 2019 20:00Z, last updated Wednesday, Jul 17th 2019 20:00Z

An Air Canada Rouge Boeing 767-300, registration C-GDUZ performing flight RV-1935 from Athens (Greece) to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 248 passengers and 9 crew, was climbing to cruise level out of Athens when the crew observed a slight fuel imbalance. The crew worked the related checklist items. The flight was continued, the crew subsequently identified however, that an uncommanded fuel transfer took place from the left main to the center tank. The crew therefore decided to declare PAN and to divert to London Heathrow,EN (UK) where the aircraft landed safely about 3:20 hours after departure from Athens.

The Canadian TSB reported the uncommanded fuel transfer fron the left main to the center tank amounted to about 2.6 tons per hour. Maintenance is currently inspecting the aircraft to identify the cause of the issue.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in London about 26 hours after landing.

Emphasis mine.

Somebody writing those notes doesn't know what cabins exist on that flight

I get the sense they are experiencing some dissociation over Rouge J.
I checked AC app today about a booking made for me by a 3rd party on Expedia in "Business".
There is an ACr segment on it, and it is a flight I book often on my FP and eUp, and my BP always says J.
AC's own app says for this booking, "there is no Business on this flight; you will be seated in Premium Economy".
(It's a TB flight.)

Almost had an incident last night. None of the catering carts were locked in place so as soon as we took off they all came flying out. Passengers and the FA held the carts until we leveled out.

What happened to 715 today? Flightaware shows it as having landed 24 minutes after taking off, and from the picture, having landed back at LGA. The AC app has it as departing quite a bit later, i.e. departing half an hour ago, left gate but not in flight yet. Looks like it landed back at LGA but now departing again.

Apparently something mechanical (or maybe floral?) triggered a whole chain of events:

RMKS/DLY AWAITING INB ACFT ACCT ORIGINAL FIN337 AOG EX-YYZ DUE
MTC- RUDDER PETAL ISSUES, AWAITING FERRY FLIGHT AC7067 FROM YUL
-YYZ TO PICK UP AC710. AC7067 RTG IN YUL- NECESSARY FIN SWAP RE
QD TO FIRAV- NOW AWAITING INB FIN333// FURTHERED DELAYED DUE T
O AIRCRAFT HELD OVER HEAD LGA
My head hurts just trying to unravel this.

Dunno, at that rate it might have been faster to peddle.

After deleting more posts on the 'wearing seat belts while in-flight' topic it seems that another advisory, perhaps one more bluntly worded, is required so I'll offer one last fair warning that the next member who resurrects the topic will earn a posting suspension as we have moved on from that debate in this thread.

I'll try my best to translate this. There seem to be three separate delay remarks entered but the system runs them all together to create this mess...

RMKS/DLY AWAITING INB ACFT ACCT ORIGINAL FIN337 AOG EX-YYZ DUE
MTC- RUDDER PETAL ISSUES, AWAITING FERRY FLIGHT AC7067 FROM YUL
-YYZ TO PICK UP AC710.

- "Delayed awaiting inbound aircraft (on) account (of) original FIN 337 (being) AOG in YYZ due (to) MTC- Rudder petal(sic) issues. Awaiting ferry flight AC7067 from YUL to pick up AC710."

AC7067 RTG IN YUL- NECESSARY FIN SWAP RE
QD TO FIRAV- NOW AWAITING INB FIN333//

- "AC7067 returned to (the) gate in YUL. Necessary FIN swap required to first available. Now awaiting inbound FIN 333."

FURTHERED DELAYED DUE T
O AIRCRAFT HELD OVER HEAD LGA

- "(AC715) Further delayed due to aircraft (inbound AC710/FIN 333) held overhead LGA"

So that combined with the fact that the remarks themselves are a total mess = barely comprehensible. I don't blame you for having a headache!
