Air Canada Jazz Sucks !

I've had it with Air canada Jazz !!!

My 6:10 am flight out of YSB this morning went mechanical, again! This time the cargo door in the rear of the aircraft wouldn't close. Everyone on board has to de-plane and make alternate connections for flights within Canada, U.S. and even Europe. My day trip was completly blown becuase of this sick plane.

Dash 8's have had their day! These aircraft are over 25 years old. When will Jazz get a replacment fleet of newer modern aircraft that won't have these constant mechanical problems? Surely to God they can afford a new fleet considering the fleecing the we regular travelers (commuters) have to put out for the privilage of being stranded, et al when they break down. In case you're wondering a round trip YSB>YYZ is in the neighbourhood of $700.00. It's pathetic that at these kinds of fare we have to have sub-standard, decrepid aircraft.

If people at Jazz are listening:

'We're sick of this sick fleet of Dash 8's - get rid of these aircraft - turn the page and start a new chapter in regional aviation'

Do you have any facts with which to support your contention the Jazz planes are a quarter century old or are you just guessing?

I am not sure when it became necessary to provide proof when someone was complaining about an aircraft. I have to say the dash 8s were there when I started with AC so that means that on average they have to be at least 20 years old. Sorry I don't have the paperwork to prove it.

I didn't think it too much to ask OP to provide facts to support their claim, which as Q has ably shown is not the case. Yes, Jazz has some planes around 20 years old but the average for all the 200's & 300's is quite a bit lower and to lay down the generalization that all Jazz DH8's are ancient would be incorrect as has been shown.

So they are between 16 and 22 years old and not 25 years old. Does it take away from the OP's post that (according to his experience) they break down and are not modern? Not really. I don't get what you're trying to accomplish other than being a 'net nanny.

I don't really care for these planes myself but I guess there must be a reason why they're still used and haven't been replaced. I have no audited financial analysis to prove this opinion however so my apologies.

These planes have to be replaced. Twenty (20) or twenty-five (25) years is irrelevent given the horrible condition that they're in and the fact that they are not reliable. That's the problem! If the aircraft were reliable and were fifty (50) years old I wouldn't care. The problem is that they go mechanical all the time and that's unacceptable for a modern carrier like Jazz. It's the aircraft itself that seems to have a best before date on it. This is a feeder airline and with that comes a great responsibility for the planes to be on time and fit to fly. I flew 74 segments on Jazz last year and was foced to make alternate arrangements on al least 10 occassions because of 'aircraft' mechanical issues. That a bad record if you ask me!

Jazz must do something about it's decrepid fleet of aging Bombardier Dash 8s.

It's time for the company to move their operation to the next level: reliable service!

Accuracy only, though I know how little that matters to some. Why let the facts disrupt a good rant as lchoen999 said earlier. Had the OP said the planes were old, fine, that's his opinion and he is quite entitled to it. But he didn't.

I think they must just use the sick ones for YSB. I've had very few problems out of YXU .

So if he put 18 years old (on average) in his post that makes it all better?

I would suggest you read (then re-read) his post again then maybe you'll understand why the exact age of the aircraft is not terribly relevant.

Relatively speaking they're old. According to him they break down and are not relaible and should be replaced. Does being 18 years old or 25 years old impact that argument - No.

Certainly not. I myself am 25 years old and have not yet had any major breakdowns, though I might very well do if AC attempt to serve me cava when I ask for champagne on my next LHR-YUL flight. And I am far more reliable than any 18 year old I know of.
