Your AC FF New Year's resolution?

Fly the cheapest airline and gradually wean myself from Aeroplan.

  1. Continue to give as much, if not all, my flying to AC and AE and attain SE status once again;
  2. Spend my miles faster than I accumulate them!
  3. Try to fly full-J class as much as possible

Continue 2007 - fly in a way that gets me in a big seat, quickly, with as few nights away from home as doable whenever possible.

My FF resolution is more of the same as the last five months.

Commuting on Dash 8s and CRJs between YXJ and YYF, about 8-10 segments a month. Their will be a few other trips, such as NZ in a couple of weeks. Most of the flghts will be done on a flight pass^

Like Simon, the goal is to be at home as much as possible, even if it incurs extra $$ and time in the air.

Find the longest distance between point A and B without spending any more money. (Hey, it's what you gotta do when you really are only an E who aspires to be a SE!)

For example, I am flying YYZ-DEN-IAH in January, and back along the same route for the same amount of money as the direct flight.

I also see that I can use my Rapidair flight passes to fly YYZ-YOW-YUL for one coupon instead of YYZ-YUL direct.

Credit my AKL UA C trip in March to UA MP rather than AP to see for myself whether the grass really is greener on the other side. With my connector to/from SFO I should easily make MP Premier, my first elite level ever. ^

With Star Alliance, SkyTeam and OneWorld I plan to consolidate the myriad of FF accounts I have which were opened many years before the Alliances were formed.

With AC/Aeroplan, I have some orphaned Aeroplan miles (30k). Since I travel every week and have two car rentals a week, I began crediting my AVIS rentals to AC/Aeroplan until I had a balance just above 40k - enough for one J class within North America.

Once I can find a J class seat at normal redemption levels, I'll then keep my Aeroplan account activie by purchasing gas from Esso once a year (I buy gas at Shell).

Although, I need to think which FF to credit my car rentals since US carriers do not give very much. LH does provide 500 miles/rental and one only needs 35k for a J class ticket within Canada on LH's Miles and More

Cheers
