That's scary: if the gate agent didn't close the flight "properly", nobody on the flight would have received credit.

I wonder how may people check to see if all there segments post?, I flew 80 segments in about a 25 week period last year, according to the AP web site anyway, I could have easily missed a few segments not posting!

Those of us who mostly fly overseas, hence not so many segments, do care.

This said, as the previous poster said, scary thing in this instance seems to be that no one on this flight may have received the miles for it.

Except for the extra miles due to the entertainment system not working (3k miles in Y, 6k miles in J), which posted right away, that is.

I didn't mean that they did not care if segments post or not, but how many people have time to check every single flight they have been on has posted? like you when I mostly flew overseas and 20/30 segs a year I did check every one as I was only flying a few times a month but when your on 4-6 flights a week, every week it's easy to lose track of flights let alone boarding passes! and I'm sure there are FF out there that fly way more segments than me.

Yes, I did understand your point.

What I meant to say is that if you fly relatively few but long segments, you typically do remember. (I flew less than 50 segments last year.)

I Always check in the week or 10 days past any trip for miles to post. In this instance, I did get a 6 k "goodwill" compensation for entertainment not working right after the flight, but not the mils themselves. Then after a month or so, I tried the web form, which, miracle, accepted my complain. But to no avail.

After that, I just kept this on hold, leaving it for now, so that the extra certs I will get will be hopefully of the fresh variety. Another reason that helped me remember.

Has nothing to do with trust or not -- I just track all my travel, points gained, spent etc...

This is just my point not every FF has the time or the inclination to do this and lets face it if the system was more reliable you wouldn't have to!

I do have a record of all my flights, when my corp TA emails me I get the flight number & time as an entry in my crackberry/outlook calendar but I would still have to go and check on the AP web site to see that they match.

Takes very little time at all. I have no doubt that a FF wastes more time in any day doing something that has less value to them ;)

I do it solely for my needs and I do not do it for what the system may or may not be.

I beg to differ, my last trip in Dec last year was YOW-YVR-YZF-YEG-YUL-YOW

When they posted on the web site, it was not in that order and I got a couple of the flights about a week after the last flight and then it took another week to get the others, now if that had been in a month before during the 2 weeks I was waiting for those flights to post I would have done another 8/12 segments and if those post out of sequence to what I was flying it becomes more than 5min job to keep track of it all!
