Lounge at SFO

I have 2 friends who are traveling on Award TKTS in Business and will be connecting in SFO from HNL to YYZ in 2 weeks. (Thet are on UA from HNL to SFO and AC from SFO to YYZ).
I know I have read about both the Continental & the Delta lounges being used at different times.

What is currently used for business class passengers at SFO.
(Search turned up very old posts.)

Thanks:)

You can use either of those when you're flying AC J. Flying UA - there is RCC.

We can use the CO lounge in SFO? I thought it's only the DL lounge landside.

They normally direct you to the CO one in fact. I have used both.

If you are flying business class you can use the CO lounge, as a *G on AC you can use the DL lounge.

Is the CO lounge airside, or also landside as the DL one? (DL is located further down the terminal from AC's check-in and gate area, and up on the mezannine level. Difficult to locate, but a nicely-laid out lounge. When flying on my Welcome Aboard Pass (Tango+ fare) in February, I was directed to the DL lounge with no mention of the CO one.

The CO lounge is landside, behind the checkin area. It is relatively small and has no windows. Although it is a little further out of the way I prefer the DL one.

Depending on time-of-day and time they have between flights, they may want to avoid having to reclear security and consider taking the airside STAR shuttlebus from their arrival terminal direct to the gates area of Terminal 1 (AC).
(AC flies from gates 21 & 23; the shuttle arrives at gate 26.) There is a small selection of amenities available at T1, satisfactory enough if if the layover isn't too long.

Can UA*G flying same-day AC (J) use the DL lounge, to your knowledge?

Thx.

If you're flying in AC J, then you should be able to get in regardless whether you're a UA*G or a bum.

As YOWkid stated you're fine being on J, but my original comment should have been more clear, what I meant was that as a *G flying on AC you would have access to the DL lounge.

I didn't say earlier, but even thought they are land side both the CO and DL lounges are better than the RCC as they have free alcohol.

If I recall correctly, I have used the Red Carpet Club in SFO when in transit.

Yes, but AC operates from Terminal 1 on the other side of the airport terminal complex from UA's facilities. You could if transiting to an AC flight off a UA flight, and had enough time, go to the RCC, then go landside across to T1 and through security to your AC flight. However, since both CO and DL offer free alcoholic drinks and a much nicer ambiance than a crowded RCC, why not use the lounges in T1?

Yes, but after leaving the RCC, why go landside & clear security again, when you can take the airside STAR shuttlebus (see post #8 above)?

Alas, tt would be less hassle for them if they were on the sole UA SFO-YYZ flight around ~10:45 AM? That would be in T3 where the HNL flight should come in.

I've taken both UA and AC to SFO-YYZ but never connected so cant comment about the STAR bus. As UA and AC *G, flying AC, with UA MP number on BP I was directed to the DL lounge landside. I was explicitly told as I was flying Y I would need to show my AC*E card to get in.

So UA*G on UA SFO-YYZ can get RCC access as its international as I understand it, but UA*G on AC cannot get into DL lounge (flying Y of course)? So I was told anyways. So when my AC*G runs out in 2008 its only UA metal for me.

There is an express security line in T1, just go to the right hand side and bypass the snake line and someone there should check your docs and let you cut right in.
