Based on the fact that you when you try to access eUps, and you get an error complaining about Aeroplan, I would say that it is Aeroplan. Which is actually both laughably stupid and potentially a breach of Canadian privacy law (in the sense that I am not sure I have ever authorized AC to share my private information with AE).

If I had to guess, they lost DNS services internally. And their failover plan didn't work. And they didn't have a rollback. And their backup wasn't as reliable as they thought.

Nice work gents.

What are the chances - two independent companies, both down at the same time? I can't log in to any of the AC/AP sites. This includes Aeroplan, Altitude, eUpgrade, and Flight pass sites, along with the main AC site. Of course, the main AC site can be browsed without logging in.

I used my flight pass to book a ticket at 13:22 today, and by the time I got to the eUpgrade site at13:25, it was not processing log in credentials. A call to the SE Desk allowed the processing of eUpgrades. I mentioned the web site issue to them, but the agent had not heard of any issues and simply noted it.

They've left it up since the last outage. Maybe they are just always bracing us for downtime now?

eUpgrade account issues

I was trying to access my eUpgrade account to upgrade a friend, and I got this awesome message - full of AC IT goodness.

Given that eUps are linked to you via your Aeroplan number, which is also effectively your AC and Altitude acccount #, it would seem unsurprising that there is a connection between them. Similarly, since eUps are earned from AC and Star Alliance flight segments and "miles" credited through the Aeroplan program the necessity to share data is certainly implicit and explicit via the privacy links provided when signing up for the common Aeroplan/AC/Altitude ID via either AC.com or aeroplan.com.

Independent companies now - certainly not independent systems, which they still share based upon common legacy ownership and IT.

What browser were you using, Firefox by chance? Some browsers will hide this sort of error but it basically means that the webserver is returning nothingness, although in a rather cute fashion.

I've seen that for other airlines before, but I've never had that problem trying to pick a seat on an AC flight

I'm actually getting an error on ExpertFlyer too. The Y cabin shows up fine though.

They better not swap out my 788
